Walking down the road to his house where Leonora was waiting, Brett felt more and more guilty about leaving Eddy behind. He knew it was the wrong choice, but they'd been friends for years. Eddy knew how crazy he was the first few weeks of a relationship. He knew it was just the honeymoon phase. He would understand.

"Hey babe, what took you so long?" Leonora said, letting Brett embrace her as he met her halfway up his driveway. Brett placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Sorry, Eddy needed someone to talk to for a bit. I'm here now, though," he smiled, and she tiptoed up to kiss him.

"I finished work early, so I thought I'd surprise you but you weren't here," Leonora said with a pout, and Brett couldn't help but kiss that pout.

"I was supposed to be working, but I guess we wouldn't have gotten a lot done today anyway," he shrugged and took her hand instead as he found his keys and unlocked the door.

"You'd come home to me anyway, though, wouldn't you?" Leonora asked, looking up at Bretg with another one of her sweet pouts. Brett couldn't help but grin.

"Of course. My girlfriend comes first," he assured her as he kicked his shoes off. He took the bag of takeaway she had brought out of her hand and led her to the kitchen. "Besides, how could I say no to the most wonderful woman in the universe?"

Leonora giggled at that, and Brett loved seeing her react like that to his words.
"You're so silly, Bretty," she said as he placed the takeaway boxes on the table. "Silly and adorable. Let's eat, babe, I'm starving."

They didn't end up eating in the kitchen. Leonora wanted to watch a tv show while they ate and so they ended up eating in the living room instead.

"What is even this show?" Brett laughed as the guy on the screen did yet another completely unexpected thing. He wasn't even sure what was going on in the show anymore, but he'd watch it if she wanted him to.

He certainly did not expect the reaction Leonora gave to his little joke, though.
"It's a great show, you're just jealous because James Roday is so gorgeous," she scoffed, taking another bite of her food. Brett furrowed his brows.

"It was just a joke, babe. We'll watch the show if you like it," he said calmly, kissing the side of her head. She pushed him away.

"How would you even feel if I made fun of something you like, huh? Just keep your thoughts to yourself, geez," she spat, rolling her eyes. "Actually, we can watch something else if you think it's that bad? Is that what you want?"

Brett was taken aback at the reaction, but thinking back he thought maybe he had used the wrong tone. Not everyone had the same humour he and Eddy had. Maybe it was offensive for other people?

"No, no. I'm sorry, I was trying to make a bad joke. The show is great, I was just commenting on the plot. It's funny," he said, licking his lip nervously. There was no way in hell he was about to fuck up what they had over a stupid comment.

"It's okay, Bretty. Just don't say things like that again," she pouted, and Brett kissed her pout quickly. She was so adorable with that pout.

"Promise, babe. I'm sorry."
