"YOU KNOW, I-I have a life too," Scott called after Derek as they enter the Hale House.  Beck glanced up at them, waiting for the two as she sat on the stairs with a book on her lap.  There was another alpha attack and Derek dragged Scott to show him.

Derek began to walk up the stairs, passing his sister.  "No, you don't," he called over his shoulder.

"Have fun?"  Beck asked as the two bickered, completely ignored.

"Yes, I do," Scott whined, making Derek turn to face him.  "I don't care what you say about him making me his pet or-"

"Part of his pack."  Derek and Beck corrected at the same time.

"Whatever.  I have homework to do.  I have to go to a parent-teacher conference tomorrow because I'm failing chemistry."

"Aww, poor baby," Beck hummed as she stood up at the foot of the stairs, holding her book close to her chest.  Scott glared over at her before returning his attention to Derek.

"You wanna do homework?"  Derek offered.  "Or do you wanna, not die?"  Scott scuffed as Derek continued.  "You have less than a week until the full moon.  If you don't kill with him, he kills you."

"How are we so sure this alpha is a guy?"  Beck muttered as she tilted her head towards Derek.

"Okay, seriously who made up these rules?"  Scott asked, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he lifted them from his sides.

"It's a rite of passage into his pack," Derek explained.

"You know what else is a rite of passage?"  Scott asked glaring up at Derek as he rolled his eyes.  "Graduating from high school.  An-and you don't have to kill anyone to do it.  Why can't y-yo-you just find him yourself?  Why can't you just sniff him out when he's a human?"

"Because his human scent could be entirely different," Derek growled at Scott.  "It has to be you.  You have a connection with him, a link that you can't understand.  If I can teach you to control your abilities, you could find him."

Scott paused for a moment, glancing around.  "So, if I help you, you could stop him?"

"Not alone.  We're stronger in numbers.  A pack makes the individual more powerful."

"It's common wolf psychology," Beck chirped, flashing a small smile towards Scott.  "Alone, you're nothing.  But with the help of your 'pack', you're unstoppable."  She paused, tilting her head from side to side.  "That and the connection werewolf packs share actually do make the members stronger."

Scott gave a shake of his head.  "How am I supposed to help if I have no idea what I'm doing?"

"Because I'm going to teach you.  Do you remember what happened that first night when you were shot in the arm?  Right after you were hit?"

Scott nodded his head.  "Yeah, I changed back," he muttered.

Derek gave off a hum.  "And when you were hit by his car, the same thing?"  Scott nodded his head again.  "What's the common denominator?"

When Scott only shrugged his shoulders, Derek reached forward and grabbed his hand.  The dark-haired boy began to groan in pain as Derek squeezed Scott's fingers, making Beck turn away.

"What-what the hell are you doing?"  Scott cried out in pain.

   "It will heal."
