new year's eve rolled around, and after spending another wonderful day with taeyong's mom, the two wished the woman good night and sent her off into dream land. afterwards, taeyong led jaehyun onto the roof of his house, with a nice view of the small neighborhood and a beautiful clear night sky decorated with stars.

"it looks so beautiful! seoul always has lights on at night, and it's impossible to see the stars," jaehyun said, fascinated by the sight of the stars.

"that's why i love my home so much," taeyong said as he, too admired the blanket of shining dots above them.

silence filled up the empty space between the two boys, and it was very comfortable. both parties enjoyed looking at the sky together, and even though it was very cold outside, they were prepared by wearing jackets and being wrapped in a blanket as well.

"red... red, an emotionally intense color, represents many things. it not only represents fire, blood, danger, and war, but it also represents power and strength, as well as determination, passion, desire, and... and love," taeyong whispered the last part, but the brown haired boy next to the one who just spoke was close enough to hear what had just been said.

though christmas had ended days ago, taeyong never told jaehyun the meaning of the color of the wrapping paper he used, nor did jaehyun find out beforehand. the gift giver had the chance of telling jaehyun the meaning of it now, so he took that opportunity.

turning to look at the red haired boy, their eyes met each other halfway through, and unable to pull them apart, the two boys got lost deep into each other's eyes.

suddenly, clouds started rolling in slowly, but it went unnoticed by the two boys who were looking into each other's eyes. the weather got a bit colder since the clouds were covering some warmth from the stars, yet the two boys weren't bothered by it. but then... it began to snow.

taeyong was the first one who caught it, and pointed it out to jaehyun. "jaehyun... it's snowing."

the other male looked back to the sky and, indeed, it was snowing. jaehyun turned back to taeyong and smiled, looking into those beautiful orbs of his.

"you know... you have such beautiful eyes," the brown haired boy said, brushing the shorter male's bangs away from his eyes. taeyong felt himself get red, but it was covered by his already red face from the cold.

unnoticed by the two boys, they had started leaning in, both of them. red face, warm breaths, sparkling eyes, the two were slowly moving their faces towards each other, not breaking the eye contact that was consistent between them.

faces now inches apart, taeyong closed his eyes slowly, the brown haired following his actions as their lips came in contact with each other. contrast to the weather outside, the two felt a source of warmth come from the other party. their hearts beating at the same pace at the same time, heads moving in sync as the touch of their lips on each other never went away, taeyong's hand moving to jaehyun's shoulder, then slowly making its way up to his neck, the bracelet from the other hanging on his wrist. the taller of the two moved his right hand to touch taeyong's cold cheek, moving his thumb back and forth slowly across the smooth piece of skin owned by the red haired boy that's kissing him right now, the ring that taeyong gave to him for christmas still sitting on his right ring finger.

fireworks erupted in the air some distance away, celebrating the beginning of the new year even though it was snowing. when the two boys pulled apart, they already missed the touch of the other, but the eye contact between them was still there, and their emotions that they put into the kiss was still present.

"happy new year, jaehyun," taeyong said to the brown haired boy, who was looking at him so lovingly.

"happy new year, yongie," jaehyun said, which immediately ruined the moment with the red haired boy lightly punching the taller's arm and hiding his face at the nickname his mom calls him.

however, the moment returned as soon as it had disappeared. the two looked at the sky to where the fireworks were taking place, arms wrapped around each other, sitting on the roof of taeyong's home. jaehyun and taeyong had felt their hearts beating fast, faces flushed red, and wrapped in each other's embrace, planning to never let go of the one next to them.

the christmas chapters were really bad so here's this to make it up to you!!! :)
