August was dreading her first day at the new school.

She used to love starting a new school. New chance of making friends, and trying different after school activities. But this time was different. I mean, Salt Lake City? She couldn't think of a lamer place to move to after her Chicago year with her summer love.

Ricky Bowen.

August sighed sadly at the memory of Ricky, and checked her phone again. No messages. He hadn't texted her since the two teenagers said goodbye, despite his promise of keeping in contact. Maybe August should get the message that he had no intention of doing so. Yet there she was, walking up the entrance next to her sister Gina in Ricky's sweater. It still smelt like him.

"Come on! Cheer up sis. New school new you." Gina attempted to say cheerfully as she hugged August by her shoulders, with a wince on her face. "Forget Ricky. Ricky who? I only know Ricky Martin."

August snorted. "I'm fine. I'm completely over him."

"Really?" Gina retorted, raising her eyebrow. "You're wearing his sweater. If that doesn't say that you're still hungover, I don't know what does."

"Please, let's talk about something else." Gina glanced at August sadly, but kept quiet. The two sisters were the only people in their lives they could always count on. Yes, they had their fights, like any siblings do, but they would do anything for each other. And it killed Gina to see how dull August was feeling.

"Okay, let's talk about school activities. I heard this year they're doing the High School Musical production. Cool, right? We're totally auditioning."

August let out a genuine laugh. "Me? Do I look like a theatre nerd?"

"Come on! You always sign up for weird stuff. Remember when you were a cheerleader one year, and then joined the chess club? Besides, you sing amazing, maybe not like me, but close enough." Gina squeezed her sister's hand reassuringly, and dragged her through the busy hallways, ignoring the curious look they received for being the new kids.
