“Nick!” a loud yell erupted from downstairs.
Nick turned towards Demi, pulling her with him as he left out of the bathroom, out of his room, and stopped at the top of the staircase. They stood motionless, wondering how they both should react.
“Um, hi?” Demi asked, not sure what else to do.
“Nick, Demi, what the fuck are we going to do?” the feminine voice asked. “We’re getting married today and to the wrong people.”
Nick sighed, shoving his face in his hands. “I have no clue, Selena.”
“Well, you better get a fucking clue soon or I’m kicking your ass,” Selena snapped.
“Selena, calm down,” her boyfriend hushed her, grabbing her hand.
Rolling her eyes, Selena pulled her hand back. “Shut up, Joe,” she huffed.
“Look, Sel,” Nick began, “I’ve been thinking since day one what I would do, so I don’t need you or anybody else reminding how much I’ve messed up.”
“Well, maybe if you weren’t a liar, we wouldn’t be in this mess,” she hissed at him in her defense. She took a step towards him, straightening her posture.
“Well, maybe if you weren’t a-” he stopped himself as he saw fury in her eyes.
Selena stepped closer to him, in his face now. “Say it; I dare you.” She squinted her eyes at him.
Smiling in victory, Nick stood his ground. “I don’t think I need to.”
“Guys,” Demi cut in.
“No, I dare you,” Selena snapped.
“Don’t need to,” Nick smiled.
Selena yelled at Nick as he yelled back at her. “Guys!” Demi screamed, walking over to the both of them. She placed her hands on their shoulders and yanked them apart. “If you two don’t act like grown adults, I swear that I’m going to kick both of your asses and still make you two marry each other.”
Selena laughed without humor. “Yeah, good luck with that.”
“Oh, you’re cool,” Nick muttered, loud enough for her to hear.
Selena smiled cockily, pushing him. “I know I am, thanks.”
“I swear, Selena-”
“Hey! I told you two to grow up.” Demi pushed her petite body in between both of them. “Now, killing each other won’t solve anything.” She switched her view from one to the other. “I know you’re both stressed, but please, shut the fuck up or I’m gonna kill you guys myself.”
Selena looked from Nick to Demi to back at Nick. She scoffed, walking back, “I’m watching you, Jonas.”
“I’m watching you, too, Gomez,” he hissed.
“Now,” Demi ran her hands through her hands, thinking, “how can we get your mother to drop this wedding thing?”
“Well-” Nick started.
“No,” Demi quickly cut him off, “enough with you. You got us in this mess.” She turned her back to him and motioned Joe to speak.
“Oh, me,” Joe fumbled. “Um, I know my mom likes sweet talk.”
“How is that even supposed to solve anything?” Selena’s snarky remark sent Demi through the roof.
“Look, Gomez, we don’t need your shit!”
