Dinner Party

                                    

                                          
Somehow we managed to make the food in time for Jes's arrival. It was a simple dinner, baked chickens and veggies, potatoes, broccoli and cheese casserole, and a few other small things. We was just pulling the casserole out of the oven when we heard the doorbell ring. 
                          
"I got it!" I jump up. "Alex come!" I get a confused look but they follow me to the door. When I open the door I see Jess with her small traveling case. She's staying in town for the trial, she's a key witness. We hug for a good minute before pulling away. "Jess! How are you!" 
                          
"Amazing!" She smiles, truly smiles she has a glow about her that she didn't have before. "How are you? With it tomorrow.."
                          
"I'm hungry other than that perfect!" I hug her again. "Just ready to put all this behind me!" 
                          
"You should be. I did! It's great!" She laughs happily. 
                          
"Anyways! Jess this is Alex! Alex this is Jessica!" I wink at Alex. "You both are super important to me it amazing to finally have you both meeting!" 
                          
"Hi nice to meet you!" They hug because Jess is a hugger. 
                          
"Alex will you show her to the room she's gonna stay in please and thank ya!" I walk away! "You are the best!" I shout over my shoulder leaving them both confused. 
                          
"You didn't!" Lora looks at me. 
                          
"But I did!" I sit beside her at the table. "Come on they are gonna be a cute couple!" 
                          
"Does Jess mind that Alex is..." she pauses looking at the door, "Satan worshipper?" I shrugged and explained she didn't mind with Cain. 
                          
"That wasn't cool." Alex fast walks in and angry whisper at me. "I know what you are trying to do! Stap!" 
                          
"See that's what you say.." I take their hand. "But I just don't think that's what you actually feel! Plus isn't she so cute!! She's pan!"
                          
"Ya our all would be cute together." Cain pipes in. 
                          
"Thank you!" I say dramatically "just wait..it will happen. Your gonna click with her."
                          
"Hey guys!" She says waking in and setting by Alex. I've seated everyone strategically. Cain at the head of the table. To his right me of course! To his left Alex. Jes by Alex. Lora beside me and across Jes because they haven't met and I'm pretty sure they are going get along. 
                          
"Jes this is Lora! Lora, the amazing Jes!" I introduced the two and they instantly click. 
                          
Conversation flows smoothly between the five of us, which makes me extremely happy that everyone gets along. Also conversation between Alex and Jes is...pretty good. They seem to be getting along! Everything is going great! I just can't get the awful feeling that I'm going to loose them out of my head. I shouldn't loose them. I'm safe here. Happy here. My case is strong. But they are Christians. 
                          
Cain startles me by grabbing my hand under the table. I look over at me and he gives me a reassuring smile, almost like he can read my mind. 
                          
"Well dinner was amazing! Thank you everyone! But I'm ready for some pie!!"  Lora stands up and points to Alex, "come child." Alex gets up shaking their head and follows her into the kitchen. 
                          
"So...Jes what do you think?!" When I start talking Cain let's go of my hand but I keep his still wanting to hold it. 
                          
"The food was amazing. So was the company." She trails along looking at the door. 
                          
"Yes." I look her dead in the eyes. "Alex is single." She opens her mouth but I cut her off. "Ready to mingle." 
                          
"They don't like me like that!" She manages to say getting flushed.
                          
"Yes they do." Cain says smiling at the situation. 
                          
"No..."
                          
"Yeah! We both know Alex believe us!" I say right before the walk back in, cutting the conversation short.
                          
After everyone eats and mingles they start leaving. 
                          
"Well I'm so sorry but it's already so late and I really need my beauty sleep!" Lora chuckles and stands to give everyone a hug. "It been a pleasure meeting you Jes!" Cain stands and offers to walk her out.
                          
"I.." Jes starts, "I don't wanna seen rude," she eases her eyebrow. "And I know that we have to be there tomorrow.."
                          
"Yes feel free to go with Alex!" I get up and hug her. "Just have fun you are only here for a few day.." I look over at Alex then to her again, "unless you two..."
                          
"Okay!! This is when we leave come on Jes! Let's go before he starts giving us the 'talk'!" We laugh and hug again. I walk them to the door. Cain beside me when we wave them goodbye as they drive off.
