*His POV*

Crouched behind the the brush we waited. The hunters had been nearing the village now and had already taken five to seven of the young ones. Over the last few weeks we have been tracking there movements and could not act without a full on war. The strategy had to be perfect to ensure the safety of not only my army but the villagers as well. The hunters had become ruthless, they had started months ago, only a few wolves here in there. A concern yes but not a major problem.

While that sounds awful, as a ruler you have to make decisions, some harder than others and at the time we had been having a sickness ravaging the villagers as well. Most people believe that my parents died by  a vampire attack, while that was not true it was actually a disease spread by saliva. As wolves when we pant our saliva drips on the ground, the ground had become saturated in it and Infected. Similar to Parvo in the canine species, this disease was highly contagious and killed in a matter of hours at most some had days.

Ten years later we still barely knew anything about the disease.,So in dealing with the bigger threat i let the hunters invade more and more. Now that the disease has mysteriously disappeared, now i took more notice to the problem at hand and realized the severity. Sometimes we would find the bodies, women, infants and teens rarely males but they would be missing a head or only organs.

We have yet to discover what the reason is behind it, but that is why we are hellbent now on finding the problems. I have spoken to other alphas and no one else had problems with the hunters yet only a few with the disease. Surprisingly it was mostly royals in other realms who had died by the disease. The council insisted that we say it was a Vampire war to keep the public from panicking on an outbreak. Invasions are more common and are dealt with quickly.

Refocusing on the task at hand we waited, the goal was to kill as many as possible but save at least half for questioning. By questioning i meant torture, i would personally be the one to get answers from these pathetic excuses of humans. While humans may be the weaker species, sometimes they become the bigger threat. They have developed silver bullets paired with liquidized wolfs bane to basically put us to sleep. Intellectually killing us slowly depending on how much is released into our blood.

"Alpha there are voices up ahead and a few growls as well. The Village master i spoke with said there where 3 females and a one year pup taken in the last week. Another pup hours ago as well." My beta informed me as he was crouched beside me. I growled thinking how far these savages have gone. I will get to the bottom of this.

As a larger human rounded the corner her lifeless brown eyes surveyed her surroundings. She had a 270 rifle snug in her grip with the sling over her shoulder filled with a bullet casing. I could smell the silver and wolfs bane as i kept low mind linking my army to stay out of sight. Some where in the trees above watching from high to alert us of how many in each group.

"Alpha sir, i count 15 hunters, all carrying high powered rifles along with side 9mm and field knives. This group is armed to the max. They are also using donkeys to pull a large covered wagon, we cannot see what is inside but can hear growling. We are assuming it is the wolves, however heavily sedated." One of my soldiers from on high linked to me.

"Stand your ground, if there is a slight opening we will work from the back picking off the measly savages one by one. I want half dead in seconds, no time wasted the other half incapacitated for questioning." I linked sanctimoniously to the army. Multiple Yes alphas rang out in  understanding.

The furthermost hunter back was pulled up by a snare to his neck, luckily the sling of his rifle was tight and his grip against the wire held it from making any sound alerting none to his death. My army worked quickly and quietly as they picked off the hunters as instructed. When the first half was dead it was on the next we leaped from trees and bushes as two wolves as a time tore into the hunters.
