You weren't a jealous person. Even when you knew you liked Leo, you weren't jealous of girls who hung out with him...not that there were that many anyway. There was enough of him to share, and he was his own person. But there was something that had been irritating you lately, and that was all the amazed talk about Karai.Yep. Karai.
His sister.
That as far as Mikey told you, he had a major crush on.
You can see why this was upsetting, right?
I could feel my heart break hearing Mikey's words. He sounded so cheerful about it, so casual. It was almost disturbing how the brother in orange was so okay with telling you this, even unaware of your crush. But as soon as it had hurt your heart, that pain had gone away. Instead, what replaced it was resentment. Jealousy. Though you knew you had no right to be because Leo was not yours, you felt it anyway. Nothing could change that.
"I think I'm going to work out a bit. Would you like to join me for a bit, Mike?"
"Sure!" He gladly saved the video game and followed behind you to the dojo. As you walked through the doors, he spoke again. "Oh! But I think Leo and Karai are training too-" He made an 'oof' sound when he ran into the back of you, who stopped suddenly.
"I see that." You pulled a fake smile and greeted the two teens in the room. Karai was on top of Leo, his own sword to his neck but a flirty look of victory on her face. Leo had a nervous smile on his face. You cleared your throat. "Sorry for interrupting."
"You're not. Did you come to train?" She grinned and got off of Leo, looking me up and down in a quick glance.
"Well," I smiled a little, "that's what a dojo is for, right?"
"I suppose you're right." She looked to Leo, then back at me. "I'm Karai. You are?"
"(Y/n), of course."
"You train with Mikey?"
"I am today, yes."
"It makes sense."
"Uhm, what is that supposed to mean?" I laughed, it was a stressed one.
"Oh, y'know, Mikey goes against the beginners, is all. I figured that's what was going on. You are a beginner, right?" I could hear the mockery in her voice. It was disturbing, but I pretended not to notice it. She was acting stuck up, but as a female ninja, I suppose you had to.
"I'm not a beginner, no. I know quite a few things." You remember what all Leonardo has told you about her. She's a good fighter. She's an experienced female ninja with an attitude, and he had a crush on her. Nothing more was really specified. You didn't know where she came from, who she knew, or what side she was on. You assumed she lived on the surface and visited her brothers like a good sister should. But you were wrong. And you knew that when you started fighting her.
"You think you could go against Leo?" She smirked at her words. I nodded.
"Already have. You seem to be in the clouds, Karai." She put a hand on her hip. The two brothers stood silently, unaware of what was going on. "Would you like to spar someone different?"
"What? You? Well, that certainly is different."
"You'd be surprised," I hummed, "I'm not that bad."
"I'll be the judge of that. You're on, newbie." I smiled and skipped over to the weapons. I chose the things Leo and the gym had been training me with, and that was a thin pair of training daggers. Not swords, not knives, but simple, playful daggers. Karai laughed from behind me, earning a look from Leo. He knew I had some potential, he just didn't know how much I had been learning. More came to me as I began training with my brother. Yes, my brother, who was part of the foot. I had begun to agree with his training, at first just curious of what he was capable of. He knew a lot more than I thought he did, and not I was intrigued.
"Alright, let's get started." I skipped to the center of the room, putting one dagger in my waistband and holding the other. Karai had her two weapons, but only one at the ready. I smiled at her. "May the best win?"
"By best, you mean me."
"We'll see." I grinned at her face. She was shocked someone so new to her would challenge her. I liked it. Mikey and Leo stood to the side, giving us room to go about. Leo stood in the ready to break up the fight if I lost the upper hand too bad. He nodded for us to start, and Karai charged. I followed her lead, dodging her weapon as it swung, and grabbed her arm. She did a spun kick, sending me back a few steps. I recovered, turning out of the way of her charge and scratching her back plate with my dagger. She turned in surprise.
"You might know how to run, but you aren't fighting."
"You'll see that in a minute, girly." I laughed again, this time it was a real one.
She growled and charged, jumping on top of me and holding her weapon up, about to bring it down. I smiled and once again grabbed her hands, twisting and yanking her off of me. Quickly, I was back on my feet. I ran at her and jumped high, wrapping my legs around her torso and bringing her to the ground. I was up before she could hold onto me, but then again she was up almost as fast.
The twist of her leg came too fast, and before I knew it, I was on the ground. I gasped and rolled to my feet, grabbing her flying leg and catching her fist with my free hand. I only got in her face when I had her off balance. "You're with the Foot." Her eyes widened, her mouth open to protest. "I know the move. I told you, I'm not a beginner." Before she could react, I pulled her limbs with a harsh force, and she spun and hit the floor. A dagger was at her throat before she could move. There was nothing to be jealous of here. I had won. A victorious smile lit up my face.
"What do you think, judge?"
