"Hey, you know, guys, uh...maybe I could help." Klaus offered. "Now is not the time." Luther said shutting him down immediately. "No, let him finish." Y/n snapped. "God, can't you see he's trying?!" Y/n asked gesturing to Klaus. She had noticed his change in behavior since he got back and she knew it wasn't just PTSD. Did they even know what he had been through? He was more mature than Luther and yet Luther still had the audacity to shut him up. She had thought Luther changed. That moment they shared had showed her the version of Luther she had cared for all those years ago but she was beginning to realize that side of Luther was only shown to her.
"Yeah, he saved my life today." Diego told them. "Mine too." Five added. "Is that true?" Luther asked, sternly. "Yeah, I did-...take credit for it. At least for Diego, I did save Five but I didn't save Diego." Klaus confessed, running his hands through his hair. "In fact, the real hero...was Ben." Everyone seemed shocked by Klaus's explanation, Luther glancing over at Y/n. "Trying, huh?" He questioned and she rolled her eyes.
"Today-listen today he punched me in the face. And earlier at the house he was the one that saved Diego's life, not me." Klaus continued, coming to stand next to Diego. "You are unbelievable." Luther scoffed. "You want proof-is that what you want?" Klaus demanded as he picked up a bowling ball from beside him. "I'll give you proof. Alright." He mumbled gripping the bowling ball tighter as he lightly swung it. "Klaus-" Y/n tried to intervene but it was too late as Klaus released the ball, tossing it at the space next to Five.
"Catch!" Klaus shouted as the cracking of the bowling ball hitting the floor echoed through the building. Klaus immediately dug his hands into his hair as the ball bounced, staring at it with a mixture of disappointment and shock. "Is there any way to silence that voice in your head that screams out to be the center of attention?" Luther grumbled as he rolled his eyes. "That's enough." Y/n growled glaring harshly at Luther. She believed Klaus. She doubted he was making this up just by the uncertainty in his voice. He was scared of this part of his powers he didn't know about and she had been the same with her own. It probably had something to do with his refusal of drugs since he had returned. She had noticed the signs of an addict without his fix and she was proud of him for getting sober. Did that mean she could see Ben for longer than the few minutes she usually had to avoid Klaus's high? She would have to test it later when they were away from their siblings.
Luther sighed glancing down the lanes to their right. He couldn't figure out why Y/n was so angry at him. Just an hour ago they had shared this moment that very easily could've been the most important moment of his life and near end of it but Y/n wanted nothing to do with him. He knew he would never get her romantically and he had accepted that earlier but she couldn't even speak to him without a bitterness in her voice. What had he done?
"You know I liked you a lot better before you got laid." Klaus suddnely remarked, hating the greater sense of confidence the loss of virginity had given the already self absorbed man. Allison's eyes widened as a silent rage burned within her. "W-Which was a complete...It-It wasn't his fault cause he was ridiculously high, right? And-and the girl, she though he was a furry..." Klaus rambled trying to plead innocent for his brother but nothing could save him now. "Stop!" Luther commanded, cautiously looking towards Allison.
It was clear that she was not happy. Even without words she displayed the biggest 'fuck you' as she got up and stormed off. "Allison wait!" Luther cried following her away from the group. They all sat, sighing at the never ending drama within their family. Y/n didn't know what to think as she looked around at the people she cared for most in the world. Maybe after they saved Vanya, they could work things out between them all? Or was the years of separation too much to mend?
"Excuse me?" A woman's voice cut through the silence making them all turn to look at the sight before them. A woman stood there, forcefully holding her son to her side. He seemed uncomfortable and it was clear that he hadn't wanted to come over. "It's my son, Kenny's birthday today, and...uh..wouldn't your children be happier playing with kids their own age? Assuming it's ok with your two dads." The woman offered, a wide smile on her face as she gestured her son forward. Diego and Klaus looked at each other, speechless by the woman's assumption.
"I would rather chew off my own foot than-" "Why the hell not. Let's go, Five." Y/n interjected, standing up quickly. Five was appalled by her statement as she pulled him to his feet, turning to Klaus and Diego. "Dad," she said to Diego, "Daddy," she continued looking to Klaus. "Oh wait, I'm so stupid." She said suddenly, tapping her forehead. "You're Daddy and he's Dad." She said pointing to Diego than Klaus. "Or you both can be Daddy." She shrugged. "We're going to go bowl, see you later. Bye, love ya!" She called before dragging Five away who was too numb with shock to object.
Deigo had both developed a pink tint on his cheeks after having been called Daddy so many times in one sitting but Klaus merely smirked at his sister. Diego scowled, feeling the flush of his face and he quickly shook his head trying to mask his embarrassment with annoyance. "If I were going to date a man, you'd be the last man I would date." Diego acknowledged as Klaus stood. "You'd be lucky to have me." Klaus claimed, grabbing another bowling ball and throwing it down the lane.
Five grabbed Y/n's arm pausing to the side of the large group of kids, out of earshot. "What was that about?" Five asked finally collecting his words. "I don't know, trying to lighten the mood, I guess." She shrugged off his hand and walked over to the group. Five frowned not knowing what to do. He usually always knew what Y/n was thinking or feeling and how to respond but right now he couldn't make heads or tails. Something was wrong. She was different.
Not drastically different, definitely something the others wouldn't have picked up on but he did. Something had been wrong with her since she almost killed Luther. Maybe she was in shock? It was a lot to come to terms with. She had lost her home, her mom and her long time friend all in one day and now the responsibility of saving her sister before she destroyed the world rested on her shoulders. She had every right to behave a little differently.
Right?
He watched as she walked up to the group, a friendly smile on her face. "Whose turn is it?" She asked. The group consisted of mostly boys so Y/n wasn't surprised was they remained silent, gobsmacked that a girl would talk to them voluntarily. "Uh-uh mine. But you can go in my place." One of the boys offered, his face bright pink as he looked at her. "Cool." Y/n said, walking over to the bowling balls and grabbing one. As she walked up to the end of the lane, Five stalked his way to the boys standing quietly beside them as Y/n threw the ball.
Five could feel their stares on her and the worry for her mixed with protectiveness and jealously lead to a very emotional Five. Which was dangerous for the poor boys. "Look at her and I will use one of those bowling balls to cave in your skull." He said to them in a terrifying monotone voice. Some turned to him in horror, while others trailed their eyes to the floor, terrifiedthat he might follow through with his threat. When Y/n turned around she noticed Five was the only boy looking at her or even in her direction. She laughed slightly at his scowl before walking over to him.
"My love, you're no fun." She smiled, tapping his nose lightly with her finger. He didn't smile instead staring into her eyes, scanning for anything that stood out. Something was off but he couldn't quite place what it was.
If only he had seen the sliver of darkness swirling in the e/c of her eyes.
