"Han Subin speaking?" Subin leaned onto the wall next to her classroom, pressing her phone tightly onto her ear. She didn't recognize the number that was glowing on the screen just a second ago. "Hello, Han Subin-sshi" a male voice answered and Subin cocked her eyebrow. She didn't know this voice.
"I'm Brandnew Music's Dong Nehyung and my good friend Mr. Yoo let me have your demos", the man spoke and Subin froze by the sound of her mentor's name. "Mr. Yoo?" She asked and Dong Nehyung hummed. "He gave me a copy of the USB stick you gave him as a farewell gift, I guess?" The man said and Subin gulped.
"Yes, indeed!" She agreed. Her body seemed to be frozen and cold sweat was forming in the back of her neck. Was this man serious? Was he really from Brandnew Music?
"I spoke with our CEO and we would like to offer you a training place", Dong Nehyung spoke. "T-Training place?" Subin asked. "Yes. We're sure that you have a bright future as a producer ahead of you." The man said and Subin felt her whole body shiver.
"Y-Yes?" She asked and heard Mr. Dong laugh. "We want to invite you to Brandnew Music this Saturday and test your skills." Mr. Dong continued and Subin listened. "Yes, I would love to come!" She grinned. "We would, of course, train you next to the school so you can still graduate!" He exclaimed and Subin smiled brightly.
"Yes, of course!" There was a massive smile on her lips while she cleared the details with Dong Nehyung before hanging up. Her heart was beating hard against her chest while she googled the name of the man that she had just called.
He was a well-known producer for Brandnew Music and had produced songs like MXM's "Good Day" and JYJ's "Back Seat". Subin couldn't believe what just happened. She walked into the classroom, ignoring the calls from her classmates.
There was a spark in the future.
Han Subin's time to shine wasn't over yet.

Since Subin was still a minor and not under a company anymore, she had to bring her parents to her meeting with Brandnew Music's executives. Mrs. Han had put on her prettiest dress, while Mr. Han rocked his favorite suit. Subin stared at her parents.
"We're not at a VIP event", she told her parents, but they only hissed at her. "It's the first time we're entering a company!" Mrs. Hand said and wiped her short, curly hair behind her ear. Subin rolled her eyes. "Thank you for coming with me though," she said and smiled at her parents. "That's the least we could do. We're still mad at Blue Soda for not training you in the department you wanted to." Mr. Han said and followed his daughter to the front of Brandnew Music's building.
Subin rang the bell and a female voice greeted her through the speaker. "Han Subin, I have an appointment at three o'clock", Subin said into the speaker and the woman let out a friendly 'Yes' before the door buzzed and Subin and her parents could enter the building.
The woman that had just spoken to them through the speaker greeted them in the lobby and motioned them to sit in the couch area. "I am just going to print out three guest ID's," she smiled and walked back to her counter.
While the woman worked on their IDs, Subin looked around the lobby. The lobby was painted in light colors and the logo of the company was on the walls. It looked serious and business-like.
"That looks way fancier than Blue Soda's lobby!" Mrs. Han whispered when the woman came back and handed them three lanyards with Guest-ID's dangling from the front. "There you go," she smiled and looked at Subin. "Mr. Dong will be here in a second!" With a bow, the young woman walked back to her desk and continued her work.
"I wonder what the conditions of this contract are", Mr. Han said and looked at his daughter. "I really hope you're going to get trained as a Producer and not an Idol again. We know how unhappy you've been after all the Idol training." Her father pouted and Subin sighed when an elevator pinged and a man walked out and looked around until his eyes locked with Subin's.
He smiled and walked over to the family that was sitting on the couches. "You must be Subin, and these must be your parents." The man smiled and bowed. "Dong Nehyung, my name," he introduced himself and Mrs. Han smiled. "You're a good looking man!" She grinned and Mr. Dong chuckled. "Thank you, ma'am!" He turned to Subin.
"Please follow me", he said with a smile and lead Subin and her parents to a small studio on the ground floor. "This is our practice studio. Our trainees use this often when they practice producing." Mr. Dong explained. "I want to test your skills in producing," he said and looked at Subin. "Here's a music piece I recorded a while ago. I want you to take a good listen to it and try to re-record it. I'll call one of our Trainee's to sing it for you."
Mr. Dong motioned Subin to sit down on the producer's chair and put on the headphones. Subin took a quick look at the desk until she found the button that would turn on the music, and as soon as the sound of Geek's "Officially Missing You" entered her ear, she was in another space.
She was fully concentrating on the music and on the vibe the singer brought over with his voice.
Her parents looked at her proudly and even Mr. Dong realized that Subin was in another space, while listening to the music. She bopped her head to the music and smiled, when she heard the singer hit the notes perfectly. It was a well-produced cover and she quietly took off the headphones when the song ended and grinned at Mr. Dong.
"That sounded great!" She smiled and Mr. Dong laughed. "Thank you. But now I want to see your version. Our Trainee is here in a second, so get ready, Subin. This may be your entry ticket for a training place as a Brandnew Music producer!" Mr. Dong smiled and Subin nodded and made two fists in the air.
