5 years later... Chloe's POV I look in the mirror and lightly touch the scar on my face from when my mother hit me at a competition five years ago. It's going to be a good day, though. I'm eighteen! It's also my five year anniversary with Maddie. We have been dating for five years now, and I was so in love. Everyone knows about us, except my mother. If she finds out, I'll be dead. I walk downstairs the to kitchen. "Happy birthday, Chloe!" wishes Nia and my sister, Clara. Nia has been dating my mother for a few years now. It's still weird. "Awe thanks!" I reply. "Where's Christi?" I refuse to call that woman my mother. "She's sleeping," Nia says. "Quite beautifully, I might add." Clara and I gag. There's a knock at the door, and I walk to open it. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHLOE!!!!" Kendall and Kenzie yell. They're the first to arrive to my day-long birthday bash. Kendall and Kenzie have a weird relationships. No one really understands what's going on there. They kiss each other and walk into my house. Next to arrive is Paige and Brooke. These too haven't changed one bit. Except Paige has struck up a relationship with a pretty blonde named Jojo. They'll always be my second family. Then comes Maddie, with Kalani. Maddie looks so beautiful. From the window I see her and Kalani laughing. They have gotten close these past years. They're best friends. When Kalani came out to all of us, I was nervous. I always new she liked Maddie and she wasn't the biggest fan of me. But Maddie reassured me. She only has eyes for me. "Welcome all to my party! Thanks for coming!" I say. I hand out my goodie bags to everyone—a Juul and some pods! I hate drugs, but everyone is happy with it. We all sit down and enjoy some food. The conversation is light. This is the perfect day. "Hey Chloe, where's the bathroom?" Kalani asks. I show her to the bathroom. "Right next to my mom's room. But don't wake her," I say. "I won't, thanks!" Kalani says. We all spend the day together. I'm so lucky to have these girls in my life. I look at Maddie and she stands up, signaling me to the bedroom. "Excuse me ladies, I have to go find something from my room," I say, leaving the group. They look up and keep chatting. Maddie and I sit on the bed together. We start to kiss. But then, the door flies open. Christi is standing there, her rhinestoned belt in one hand and beer in the other.
