Mel was standing at the entrace, waiting with a scowl. I walked through the rope and we walked in silence as she pushed through a couple who was standing in our way. My eyes widened, she grumbled and swung open the doors to the club. The lights were dimmed even more, and the music cranked up louder as the sun started to set.
I saw Marc leaning up against a wall, talking to Ayla and Molly animatedly. Molly was following along well as she nodded and constantly would giggle at whatever he said. Mel turned around to me with an eye roll once we approached my friends.
"Hey Ana, where did you go?" Ayla nudged me with her shoulder. I smiled and shrugged at her. "Oh have you met Marc? He plays for Barcelona." Ayla winked at me, because she definitely knew. Molly stifled another giggle while Ayla blatantly laughed outloud. Marc looked confused but laughed along anyway.
"Yep I've met her before, she seems to show up everywhere." Marc said to my friends while looking at me intently. "She even looks like some guy I play-"
"So how about that VIP section?" Molly chimed in, distorting Marc's thoughts before he could actually determine who I looked like.
"Ah yes," he nodded and sipped his drink subtly while glancing at Mel, who was texting someone angrily. "Are you coming Mel, Ana?" he asked us as he started to walk away with my best friends.
"Yeah, hold on." Mel said as she followed him without another word to me. Marc turned back and rose his eyebrows at me.
"You too Ana?" he asked me, and I saw Neymar sit at the extensive bar from the corner of my eye just when I was about to say yes.
"You know what? Melody actually told me to watch her purse at the bar, so I'm gonna just go watch it." I pointed backwards with my thumb as I backed up. He very well knew that there was no purse, but he just went along with it. "When my friends are ready, just have one of them call me, okay?" I said to him and I was turning around.
"Yeah I'll make sure!" he yelled above the loud music and disappeared into the crowd.
I observed Neymar as he was sitting there with most bored expression I had ever seen on him. He was always so full of life, on and off of the field. Tonight, he was different, and understandably after breaking up with Bruna. Our emotions at the moment were totally opposite, but that didn't stop me from approaching him first this time. I was surprised that no fans recognized him, but this club just reminded me of some frat boy party.
Minus the girl fights.
I walked steadily towards him as he ordered another drink while putting his head on the counter. I climbed on the chair next to him and ordered myself a vodka soda. He glanced at me once before putting his head down, and his head shot up again.
"You know, I'm beginning to think that you just conveniently show up everywhere I am." he muttered.
"Don't flatter yourself." I giggled as the male bartender served Neymar and I our drinks. "I'm a regular and happen to stop by many parties." I lied about me coming to that specific place often.
"Ah, so you often happen to creep into stadiums unauthorized right?" he looked at me with a smirk. I rolled my eyes as I downed my drink.
"Ever so conveniently." I set the shot glass in front of me, and waited for my throat to adjust to the burning liquid. Neymar glanced at my shot glass and downed his effortlessly.
"What were you doing that day anyway?" he asked me while looking foward.
Just practicing so I could impersonate my brother that you hate with all your soul.
"Why were you watching me?" I countered, and he thought on it.
"Get back to me on that Ana." I got butterflies when he said my name. "Bruna never really liked football." he moped quietly and rubbed his face with his hand.
