"Welcome!" The headmaster's voice was it's usual lightself.

"Hello Professor." I nodded.

"Albus, we need to talk."

"Talk away Severus."

Severus gave me an encouraging nod.

"Well you see the thing is....." Dumbledore nodded patiently as I told him about how J.K.Rowling had written a series of books describing Harry's life and the war. "I have them in my bag. They also made eight movies out of it. Honestly I'm not sure how the muggle borns have never heard of it. The fandom is well....massive...."

"So you know how this will all end?" Dumbledore never dropped his calm tone.

I found it quite unnerving. "Yes sir."

"Does he win?"

"Harry? Yes." I chewed my lip. "But at great cost."

Dumbledore smiled sadly. "War always comes at a great cost."

"Eris. I'm sending you to Grimmauld place at the end of term. You'll continue staying with Severus until then."

"Yes...yes sir?" I tilted my head a little confused. "Don't you want to read the books?"

"No. I find its best not to know one's future for it tends to come weather we wish it or not." He smiled knowingly.

I only nodded. My bag floated across the room landing softly at my feet. Picking it up I followed Severus back to the dungeon. I don't want to leave. I want to stay. I want...I want to protect them.

"How...." he hesitated. "How does my story end?"

I chewed my lip how do you tell someone they're going to die. Especially when that's the last thing you want. Tears pricked the corners of my eyes.

"Not well then." He seemed resigned to his fate.

"No, Voldemort kills you because he thinks you're master of the elder wand during the final battle." Tears fell freely.

Gently he wiped them away. "Don't cry Eris. I always knew it would end this way. That's the only way to get out of his clutches."

"You, Lupin, Tonks, Mad-Eye, Fred, Dobby, Hedgwig, Sirius, not to mention the names on the radio." I took a deep breath trying to steady my sudden surge of emotions. "I want to save you all."

"Eris, you can't. Who knows what sort of effect that might have on the out come."

"But I can try can't I? Who says you have to die?" I angrily wiped tears from my face.

"Eris, our fates are not yours not decide. Who knows maybe your telling me will change how the story goes."

"Maybe."

I curled up on the couch with the first book on my lap. Even though I had read them at least a dozen times I felt the need to refresh my mind of the story again. Lupin was here which meant I was at least as far as book 3 or maybe between since Sirius was already at Grimmauld place? I shook my head. How strange that their lives continue on between the pages. I never would have imagined.

"Neville is going to kill the snake." I didn't look up as he entered the room.

"Longbottom?" He scoffed. "Longbottom is a useless prat."

"He's not useless!" I snapped. "You only hate him because Voldemort didn't choose him to be the chosen one."

Severus opened and closed his mouth several times reminding me vaguely of a fish out of water. He knew I was right.
