it felt as if calum and luke spent every living second together. calum was always at luke's house and never the other way around. it didn't bother luke any. he was really beginning to develop feelings for the older boy.
this one monday felt the same. luke sat on his own counter while calum made them spaghetti for lunch. luke hummed silently, his eyes never leaving calum.
"hey, luke?" he asked, turning around for a second to face him.
"yeah?" luke responded, tilting his head to the side. he had no clue what he was going to ask him, but he hoped it was good.
"if you took a picture it would last longer," calum replied with a smirk. luke gasped and jumped off the counter, making his way towards the tan boy as he tried not to laugh.
"i hate you," luke said, smiling as he jokingly hit calum's chest. calum wrapped his arms around luke's waist bringing him closer to him.
calum leaned down, pressing his lips against luke's as luke's arms wrapped around calum's neck. their lips moved against each other's softly, not wanting to rush anything. it was a very sweet and gentle kiss, causing luke's stomach to fill up with butterflies.
their kiss was interrupted when the boiling water flowed over the edge of the pot. quickly calum pulled away, moving away from luke to turn down the heat. quickly, the water returned back to normal.
"i've been waiting to do that for awhile now," luke whispered, moving back to the cold granite.
"me too, lu."
the boys sat next to each other on the couch, feasting on the pasta. luke constantly talked with his mouth full, causing calum to pinch his arm every time he did it.
"cal, what are you doing friday?" luke asked, setting his cleared plate on the coffee table.
"i don't know, whatever you're doing," calum said, offering a comforting smile. he stood up, grabbing luke's empty plate and taking his own to the kitchen. he placed them in the dishwasher before running back to him, jumping on the couch.
"i wanted to know if you wanted to go get something to eat for my birthday? i turn twenty three then and i don't want to spend it with anyone else," he mumbled, fumbling with his fingers nervously.
calum laughed at luke's nervousness, leaning over and pecking his lips gently. "of course, i would love to spend your birthday with you. this is the year of me and you."
luke groaned, covering his face with a pillow as his cheeks turned bright red. "you make me feel so, ugh i don't know how to explain it!"
calum laughed loudly, his heart beating loudly in his chest. he was genuinely happy for the first time in a while all because of luke.
"do you have to leave?" luke whined, holding onto calum's hand tightly with his lip puffed out. calum nodded his head, bringing the pale hand up to his mouth, pressing a soft kiss to his hand. it was almost like tradition now.
calum walked out of the home and back to his own house before getting in his car. he turned the car on, backing out of the driveway. he drove into town, singing, the songs that luke showed him days before, to himself as his mind raced wild. he let out a loud scream before hitting the steering wheel with his fists.
there was no explanation for this behavior, but it was not abnormal for him. this had been the first outburst since he met luke. he knew luke wasn't going to stop these fits, but he hoped he would slow them down.
meanwhile, luke went to his bed and stared at the ceiling. a wide smile was on his face. he was so happy. it felt nice to be held and appreciated. luke fell asleep, wishing he was next to calum. that night, he dreamt of the older tan boy who lived across the street.
