The room gradually became colder and colder the farther she walked down. Jess was about to question the vents when she saw five lights, one with ice or something is similar on top. As she inspected the ice, she noticed that it wasn't any normal ice – it was blue ice. Known for its ability to stay solid in some of the more extreme heats, it was rare and used mainly for experiments and, rarely, commercial use. The fact that Ivor had one sitting around was pretty valuable in itself and gave her a glimpse into what he was like.
Next to the blue ice was a ghast tear. It was frozen and Jess inspected it with her hands. There was a beautiful glimmer that came from its corners when she tilted it at just the right angle.
Opposite the tear was a glowing prismarine block - a sea lantern, it looked like. Created naturally near the ocean floor in Atlantis-like ruins, she wondered how Ivor was able to obtain one for himself.
Next to that was a prismarine shard. It had also crystallized from the cold and became an aqua-colored gradient rather than solid sea green.
In the middle was something she had not expected at all. It was a pristine, frozen dragon egg. A dragon egg.
She brushed her hand against the rough shell. It gave her the chills - it felt so alive yet unnerving. There could be a baby dragon in it and here it is was, being cryogenically frozen to store as a trophy like a deer's head on a post.
On the wall were five lever-like scales and a doorway, locked by a signal. Okay, she assumed, maybe I have to put these in the correct order by weight.
She arranged them from most light to most heavy, careful not to disturb the treasures as she carried them. First was the shard, then the ghast tear, sea lantern, blue ice, and dragon egg.
Nothing happened. Jess inspected the items. Perhaps one was denser than the other?
"It would be helpful if you knew the stories behind these."
She turned around in surprise. The mysterious voice spoke, "Ah, I forget we haven't seen each other in a few hours." Out from the shadows emerged Ivor, clothes tattered around the edges and hair a little ruffled.
"Ivor? Where have you been?"
He fixed his sleeves. "While the three of you were sleeping, we were ambushed by some wild animals led by this crazy man. I had to lead them away from the group but because of that I got stuck in the forest and I only got back."
She stared at him. "How did you get in here?"
"There's a zipline I made through a tunnel that leads to here. The Mojang hid it well so I took use of it."
"Well, now that you're here, how do we open these doors?"
He picked up the ghast tear. "You see, these treasures are in a certain order based off when they were found. Our first adventure was through the nether. As we explored the laboratory with the hints of the ender dragon, a ghast surprised us and we teamed up to kill it. This was what we got from it." Ivor replaced the shard with the ghast tear.
The doors clicked open and Ivor looked at Jess. "All you needed was to switch those two." He was about to walk through when Jess grabbed his shoulder and yelled, "Wait! I... I want to know the stories of these things."
He grimaced at the loud request but continued telling the stories. "This prismarine shard... we had gone on a diving expedition for a local research center and found these amazing underwater ruins. I yanked out this shard from one of the coral rocks." He pointed at the lantern. "This sea lantern was in the very center of the ruins. Beautiful, isn't it? We don't know how it got there or how it is still glowing but we decided to keep it."
