"THERE IS A LOT YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN" SAID MY MOM IN HER STERN TONE. "first of all who is this?" she asked pointing at Johnny who was still holding me. he took on of his arms from my waist and stuck his hand out for her to shake "hi Ms Gisoni. I'm Johnny Orlando" he said in the politest voice ever. my sister then came running in and i immediately got out of Johnny's embrace "Maddie!" i said as i ran to hug her "oh my god baby you did so good! i am so proud" she said while squeezing me. after we pulled away we came back to where my mom was.
"so, since when do you sing?" she asked severely. i stood in front of her next to Johnny "for a while now. i can't remember exactly when i started" i said "why didn't you tell me?" she asked and i could see a tone of sadness in her words "because i thought you would be mad" i said. i was scared to tell her how i really felt seeing as she didn't tend to listen but Maddie nodded me on, telling me to continue "you always made such a big deal about dance. i thought you'd freak if i did anything that would distract me from that. and don't get me wrong i like dancing. but i only started to love it again when i came here and danced with Hayden" i said. she just stood there for a while absorbing everything.
the silence was killing me. was she going to flip out? was she going to take it okay? "i'm sorry Mackenzie" she said in the most honest tone i have ever seen her use. Maddie's has immediately dropped "if i knew you felt this way i would've put you in music school sooner" she stopped to take a deep breath "you're just such a talented dancer and i didn't want to see that go to waste, so i put in intensive dance classes" she said. that's it? that's why she has been so rough? "i wanted you to be a star since you had all this talent. but i'm sorry i didn't give you the opportunity to come to me. i should've talked to you girls more. and you're a very good singer Kenzie, it was beautiful" she said looking at me and Maddie.
"it's okay mom. it's never too late" Maddie said "that's true" i completed. she opened her arms for us to hug her. i hesitantly looked at Maddie before going for it. all this time all i wanted was a supportive mother, and maybe now i finally got that. "Melissa!" i heard someone calling from behind us. she pulled away and i spotted Ms Orlando "Dale! wow it has been so long!" she said while smiling at him. "ah, it makes sense now. he put you into singing didn't he?" my mom asked me "yeah..." "that's a very Dale thing to do" she said and they both laughed. me, Maddie and Johnny who i noticed was still there didn't get it "i see you've met my son" he said "wait, you're Johnny Orlando as in Dale Orlando" she said while pointing to Johnny "yes" he said. "wow what a small world is. who would've guessed our kids would date" my mom said.
"uh, actually we're not dating mom" i said hesitantly "yet" Johnny completed with a smirk. our parents laughed while i just slapped him in the arm. "well then, i'll leave you two to finish what i interrupted. Kenzie, meet me later, i want to know all about your singing" she said while leaving with Dale. Maddie stood behind not knowing where to go until she said "uh i'm going to find Hayden and Brynn" and left. i then turned to Johnny "so, tell me all about tour!". i pulled him to some seats nearby waiting for his response "well it was very bittersweet, it was like amazing but..." and then again someone interrupted us only this time i knew who it was.
"Kenzie!" Annie yelled. i heard Johnny madly sigh next to me which made me giggle a little. "Lauren, Annie!" i stood up and was immediately attacked by their hugs. "why didn't you tell us you sang?" Lauren asked "i'm sorry, i wanted to. i just couldn't. part of the agreement was that only your dad, Johnny, Brynn and Hayden knew" i said. "still, you're so good! i'm so proud of you" Annie said while squeezing me in another hug "me too, i always thought you were talented, now i'm one hundred percent sure" Lauren said. "thank you guys. you don't even know how nervous i was for you reaction" i admitted. "aww" they said while hugging me again.
to ruin our friend moment, of course Johnny cleated his throat "don't even get me started with you mister. not telling your sister or your best friend you're coming back" Annie said while walking towards him. for a second i thought she was going to slap him or something, but she just hugged him really tight. "i missed you" she said in the hug "back at you Leblanc" he said. when they pulled away Lauren just stared madly at him "come on Choppy. it was supposed to be a surprise" at the sound of that nickname she immediately smiled and went over to hug him. "i missed you fool" she said "i missed you so much Laur" he answered. when they pulled away she said "now we got your message, and we'll leave the love birds alone" Lauren said when she pulled away. "come on Annie" they linked arms and left.
and for the third time that day me and Johnny stood alone and tried to reconnect. only this was the first time we didn't have any interruptions.
