Friday night
Khari
I have my hair braided up for tonight's game this is the second to the last game before the semifinals we've only lost 2 games and won the rest. The position that I play is running back and I'm pretty good at it. At first my mama was still on edge about me playing and getting hurt but once she seen how good I was and how fast I was she calmed down some.
"Aye Ky," I looked up seeing Trent.
"Wassup Trent."
We dapped.
"Is A'Shanee going to be at the game?"
"She's at every game."
"Okay cool."
I squinted my eyes at Trent.
"You like my lil sister?"
"What no."
I looked at Trent.
"Alright so I do think she's pretty."
"I knew it."
Before Trent could respond Coach Watts walked to the middle of the floor and we both sat down. I tied up my shoes as I listened to Coach Watts talk then I put my gloves on.
Once Coach Watts finished talking we all got into a huddle said a prayer then we dispersed I grabbed my helmet and hair cap that my auntie Chandra gave me I placed it on my head then I placed my helmet on my head. Coach Watts and the other coaches lead us out of the locker room and down the hall and over to the tunnel.
My family from my mom and dad side are here so I know I gotta show out.
"Ky your dad's family out there?"
"Yeah."
"All of them."
"Yeah when I talked to my dad this afternoon he told me everyone was coming from New Orleans."
"New Orleans I thought your dad family was from Memphis I mean your real dad."
"In my eyes August is my real dad the man that help my mama created me stopped treating me like his son."
"Dang that's messed up."
"Yeah it is but August took me in and started treating me like his own and he adopted me so August is my dad blood or not."
Trent nodded.
"Ready to take home this win?"
"You know I'm ready."
"Let's get it."
We did our handshake then we got ready to run out of the tunnel.
After the game
We won again and after celebrating with Trent I made my way over to my family but I was stopped by Braelyn.
"Good game Khari."
"Thanks Braelyn."
"You're welcome."
Braelyn gave me a hug then she kissed my cheek I blushed and made my way over to my family.
"Congrats Ky," my mama spoke as she pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you mama."
"You're welcome baby."
Everyone else congratulated me then Shanee walked up to me.
"Was that Braelyn you was talking to?"
"Yeah it was."
"What did she say to you?"
"Nothing she just congratulated me then she kissed my cheek."
"Wait really?"
"Yeah."
"Hmm."
"You two don't like each other?"
"She don't like me I don't know why I don't have a problem with her."
"Oh okay."
"Ky what you want to eat?"
"Pizza, wings and cheese sticks at the house."
"Alright."
We all made our way off of the field and towards the tunnel and exit.
A'Shanee
I really don't know why Braelyn don't like me I never done anything to her for her to not like me I've been nice to her and yet she just don't like me.
"Hey A'Shanee."
I stopped walking and turned seeing Braelyn frowning at me.
"Hey Braelyn."
"Why are you always with Khari you two must be dating?"
Oh and she's new to the school.
"No he's my brother."
"Really?"
"Yes really."
"Oh."
"Maybe you should've gotten to know me instead of not liking me from the get go and you would've learned that Khari is my big brother but yeah I have to go."
I turned and walked away catching up with my family Khari looked at me with raised eyebrows and I gave him a signal letting him know that I was okay and he nodded. Kameron looked at me and smiled and I gladly got him from my mama and kissed his cheek. Kameron is definitely going to have all of the girls after him when he gets older.
