Chapter 3

                                    

                                          
The leaves were falling off the branches as Kendra was just sitting on the soft grass and watching the sky. She already finished training her dragon Fenrir, and she only had one thing in her mind. The loss of her mother when she was a newborn those years ago. WolfCat quietly approached Kendra from behind and sat next to her. They both silently watched the blue sky together and saw clouds moving overhead. "Hey, Kendra? What's up?" He asked. Kendra sighed and glanced at her friend before replying to his question. "The sky?" She said. "Come on, Kendra. You know that's not what I mean. Tell me what's wrong." WolfCat said.
                          
"Alright, fine. I'm just thinking about my real mother. I want to know more, but... It looks like Orin doesn't want me to know what happened to her." Kendra sighed again. They both stood quiet for a long, long time. "Kendra, do you wanna go out in the open and tame a wild dragon?" WolfCat asked, trying to cheer her up. Kendra looked at her friend with wide eyes. "Um... Are you sure that's a good idea? What if Orin or the others catch us? It sounds dangerous too." Kendra said cautiously. WolfCat got up to his feet and held his hand out to her. "Don't worry, Kendra. If anything goes wrong, I'll take the blame. That's what friends are for, right?" He said. Kendra smiled and grabbed his hand and got up. "Come on, I'll take another dragon with us. Go get Fenrir." WolfCat said.
                          
"Okay! Meet me infront of the breeding castle!" She laughed. Kendra raced to the dragons den and she saw Fenrir sleeping. "Fenrir, wake up! We gotta go!" Kendra said. Fenrir snorted and got up, stretching and yawning. Kendra grabbed her bow and arrow and lead her dragon to the breeding castle. "Kendra, where are you going?" Said a voice from behind her. Kendra turned around to see Orin carrying some wood for the Tribe. "Oh, I was going to fly in the clouds with Fenrir. Just to take some cool air running through my hair. I mean, it's such a nice beautiful day, right?" Kendra said, tricking him. "Yes, it is a good day to be flying. Just becareful. I don't want you to get hurt." Orin sighed. He walked off with the wood in his hands, leaving his apprentice to stare after him.
                          
Soon, WolfCat came with Draco and he brought a friend along. Ash came with her dragon, Zin. "Ash, I didn't know you were coming with us!" Kendra said, surprised. "Of course I came. I have to look out for my friends too, right?" Ash smiled. "Yeah, but you won't tell Orin or anyone else that we left, right?" Kendra asked. Ash walked over to Fenrir and pet him on his nose. "Well, as a officer I was supposed to tell Orin, but I want to enjoy the adventure as well. So no, I won't tell anyone." Ash said. WolfCat and Kendra sighed in relief. "Thank Thor..." Kendra said. They all got on their dragons, but someone called them in the distance as they were about to fly. "Hey, youngsters! Where y'all going?" Athena yelled. Tor and Astrid were walking with Athena too. "Oh, we're just going to fly and take some fresh air!" Kendra said. "This is definitely not the time to be flying, Kendra. Our Kingdom needs food and you must bring back deer meat for the Clan!" Tor grumbled. "Yes, I know Tor... I'm sorry. We'll come back soon, I promise!" She said, nodding respectfully to her people. Tor, Athena, and Astrid watched them fly away in the clouds.
                          
As the dragons and dragon riders were flying, Kendra took a glance at the village and saw Orin talking to Orcus. "When we get back remember to tell Orin that it was my idea! I'll take the blame!" WolfCat yelled to Ash and Kendra. "Yes, sir!" The two women said at the same time. Soon, they've reached the middle of the ocean. "We're halfway there to the Evergreen forest!" WolfCat yelled. Kendra and Ash nodded to their friend in response and they went to the east with their dragons. Later they made it to land and they flew down on the sands. The three friends got off of their dragons and they went to interact with each other. The dragons snorted, growled, and purred as they were talking to each other.
                          
"Wow. I can't believe we made it this far!" Kendra said. "Yes, but we have to becareful. The last time Orin took me here we had to fight our way out of this forest by other dragons just defending their home." Ash said. Draco snorted and growled slightly at Kendra in a friendly manner. "Then we'll have to take our dragons along with us then. They'll defend us as we walk along the forest floor." Kendra said. WolfCat and Ash agreed and their dragons followed them on foot. As the dragons and dragon riders were walking in the forest, they spotted a phoenix dragon's tail in the clouds. "Look! Up there! I saw a tail! It has to be a dragon!" Kendra yelled. "Well, don't just stand there! Come on!" WolfCat said, getting on Draco's back. Ash got on Zin and went after WolfCat in a hurry. Kendra quickly got on Fenrir's back and flew off after her friends. "Guys, wait! Wait for me, please!" Kendra yelled. Once Fenrir and Kendra were in the clouds, they saw many dragons soaring infront of them. The Rainbow Serpent blasted near Fenrir and Kendra. Fenrir screeched and growled as another dragon came by him. The Forest Stag dragon bumped into Fenrir and pushed him to the side. The russet demon dragon almost lost his balance and Kendra almost fell off of Fenrir's back. "Ahh! Fenrir, help!" Kendra yelled, grabbing on his leg. Ash and Zin flew out of nowhere near them and disappeared. Fenrir screeched and roared and helped his owner get back on his neck. Suddenly, WolfCat and Draco almost bumped into them.
                          
"Ahh! We have to get out of here, Fenrir!" Kendra said. It seems like the clouds confused Ash and WolfCat as they were chasing the phoenix dragon. As they left the clouds, they saw the phoenix dragon infront of them. "There he is! Come on, Fenrir! We have to get that dragon!" Kendra said. Fenrir soared in the sky and went after the phoenix dragon. The phoenix dragon looked over his shoulders and tried blasting his flames at Kendra and Fenrir. Fenrir dodged all of the phoenix dragon's fireballs and was gaining on his tail. The phoenix dragon screeched in annoyance and flew down into the trees. "After him, Fenrir! We can't lose him!" Kendra said. Fenrir growled and swooped down in hurry, racing after the phoenix dragon.
                          
Suddenly, Fenrir stopped and watched the phoenix dragon fly away. He couldn't go after the phoenix dragon under the trees. Fenrir screeched in apology to his owner. "It's okay, Fenrir. We'll try again later." Kendra said, petting his neck softly. "We need to find WolfCat and Ash." She said. Fenrir flew back up in the clouds and they looked around. "WolfCat?! Ash!? Where are you guys?!" Kendra yelled. No one responded, but suddenly Fenrir and Kendra could hear roars and screeches in the distance. "Oh, no..." She said. Fenrir followed the sound, and as they got closer, they heard blasting. "Come and get me, big guy!" Ash yelled. Fenrir and Kendra swooped down and saw Ash and WolfCat fighting a Forest Stag dragon. "Ash! WolfCat! Get out of there! He'll eat you!" Kendra yelled. They didn't listen and their dragons kept blasting at the Forest Stag dragon, but this time it only made him more angrier.
                          
The Forest Stag dragon roared loudly in the Evergreen forest and growled ferociously. Fenrir swooped down and blasted at the Forest Stag dragon's face, causing it to screech in pain. "Guys! We have to get out of here! Our dragons are no match for him!" Kendra yelled. "No, Kendra! There is more of us! He's only one! We can take him!" Ash snapped. The Forest Stag Dragon kept screeching and it blasted at Ash. Zin gracefully dodged the attack and blasted back at the Forest Stag dragon. Nearby, there was another dragon and a dragon rider who was headed straight for Kendra and her friends. "Ash, maybe Kendra is right! He's too strong and we might end up getting killed!" WolfCat yelled at last.
                          
"We almost got him! I promise nothing bad will happen! Like I said, we can take him out!" Ash said. "No you can't!" Yelled a voice. Everyone turned their heads to see Orcus riding on Borgian. The huge dragon made a huge roar and scared the Forest stag dragon away, but it came back. "You never learn, do you?" Orcus said to the Forest Stag. Borgian blasted at the Forest Stag dragon and it flew away into the clouds. Borgian and the other dragons landed on the soft grass. Orcus got off of Borgian and walked over to the three dragon lords. "Orin send me to look after you three. Why are you all out here? Don't you know it's dangerous? Kendra could've gotten hurt- You all could've gotten hurt!" He said, crossing his arms.
                          
"Well, we wanted to tame a dragon by ourselves. So, we came out here and found a phoenix dragon and we went after it." Kendra said. Orcus placed his hand on his head and sighed. "Look, our dragons are tired. We'll stay here and camp out. We'll leave by tomorrow morning. Get to work, all of you!" Orcus said. Everyone went their separate ways and started collecting wood.
                          
Meanwhile in the Silver Bison Kingdom...
                          
Towers were destroyed, meat and wood were stolen. Orin's dragons were fighting Mystical Shepherd's army of dragons. Soilders were fighting other soilders for territory. "What a lovely Kingdom this is... Hand her over, Orin!" Mystical Shepherd said. Orin looked at her in confusion and was cornered in the dragon's den. "H-How do you know my name?" He asked. Mystical Shepherd chuckled slightly and she jumped off of Meglok's back. "I know you because a little birdy told me. Now... Where is she?!" She yelled. "I... I don't know what your talking about! Who is she?" He asked. She brought out her knife and sliced his cheek. "You idiot! Where is Kendra?! You better tell me!" She said.
                          
Orin fell to the side and coughed, but he tried to get back up. "Never! I'll never tell you where Kendra is! Why would you want to hurt her?!" Orin yelled. Mystical Shepherd kicked him, causing him fall back down. "Because I have to! You're a fool, Orin... I won't kill you, but we'll meet again. Tell Kendra when she returns that Mystical Shepherd will execute her. Understood?" She said. Orin looked up at her with wide eyes and watched her leave. "Grim Crow Tribe, retreat!" She yelled. All of Mystical Shepherd's dragons and soilders left the Silver Bison Kingdom. Orin just layed there, waiting for someone to come rescue him.
