Kaia's POVIt been a week since the situation with Xavier happened. I woke up the next morning and found his and his things gone. Nothing but a letter was left, thanking me for taking care of him and not to worry he'll be fine.
The guilt has been tearing my conscience in two. Between Maia being worried about her brother whereabouts; to Ryan wanting to "build on our relationship".In times like these I wish I had a parent with a sturdy head to talk to.
I've been spending a lot of time with Grandma Elaine. She's been a very good listener. I haven't told her about Xavier as yet, but I feel myself working up to it. He was a heavy topic for me to think about these days. I'm still hoping we can forget about the kiss and move on. But something in me tells me we can't.
Xavier's POV
It's been a week since I kissed Kai. I miss her and her sweet curls. I've been staying in my father's office, which would be mine. I signed the official documents to become owner. It was now a matter of telling the staff.
Kaia.
I feel terrible for leaving her like that but I couldn't think of anything else. I loved her terribly, i just couldn't express it right. I think it's best I give her some distance. That's the last thing I wanted to do. But I know I'd be the for the best. I had to get some affairs in order and make some drastic changes to the company. I was gonna make sure that every decision I make would be legit.
Kaia's POV
Honors classes we're kicking my ass. I've started spending a lot more time with Ryan and getting to know him a lot better. He's kind and funny. He has a niece who's about 2 and loves spending time with her. They bond well he says.
"Alright, tell me the me the stages of the cell cycle." He looks up from the flash cards and grins.
"Pass me a taco chief. Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase." I cheese after my answer. "I so smart."
"You are indeed. That was the last one. Can we take a break I'm hungry." He opened my fridge and might as well have seen dust. I haven't been shopping in a while.
"So I guess Chinese." He chuckled and sat back down. "Sure. Food has kinda been on the back burner since midterms." I stare down at the pile of flash cards.
"Why don't you just take regular classes like everyone else. It could save you a lot of time." He shrugged his shoulders and dialed the number.
I thought about just taking regular class but I really wanted to skip a grade and go straight to college. The less money I have to spend the better. I picked up the flash cards and quizzed my self all over again.
Thursday Morning
Science class. Just get to science class. Maia passed into my vision but I kept walking hoping she didn't see me.
"Kaia! Damn slow down." She giggled
She reached to touch my shoulder and I flinched. I've been anxious around her after the whole Xavier thing.
"I feel like you've been avoiding me or something. Is everything okay?" She looked worried. It wasn't as if I could tell her.
"I'm fine. I really can't talk now I'm sorry." I walked away as fast as I could to Science. I barley got any sleep studying for that exam. I sat, wrote my name and started.
2 periods later
I closed my locker the find Ryan standing behind it.
"Well...?" He asked
