IT IS THE NEXT DAY. yesterday me and everyone else went out for dinner to celebrate the day. i hadn't been that happy in a while honestly. so to go out with my friends and have pure fun was amazing.
i am in my music class. sometimes it was hard keeping this from Asher, Annie and mostly Lauren. but i had too. today Lauren wanted to hang out and i had to lie to her again to get out of it. i don't know if she suspects anything since i always blow her off in the afternoons, but i sure hope not.
"okay that's all for today Kenzie" my music teacher Ms Green said. i liked her a lot. she treated me like a little sister and always gave me good advice even though she was only my teacher. i starting packing up my things "i wanted to ask you something" she said "you know we have our presentation soon and me and the other teachers want you to be one of the performers" i immediately looked up at her "i can't..." "no Kenzie. you can" she said looking at me "what you can't do is keep you're talent hidden forever. i know your mom isn't supportive but don't let her stop you from doing what you love" she got close and put a gentle hand on my shoulder "you can do this. i'll stand by you. and so will your friends and your sister".
i was speechless. i knew she was right. i couldn't hide my singing forever but i didn't see this coming either. i just didn't know what to do. "you can think about this. tell me you're answer by tomorrow. but i think you should do it. you would be great". she said while taking her hand away and leaving the room. is she right? is it time to do this? i have been hiding it for a while now... my thought were interrupted by someone by the door. "hi Mack!" i knew right away it was Hayden. "hey" i quietly said, still thinking about what had just happened. "do you want to go get ice cream just..." i think he noticed my state. "what happened?" he asked coming closer to me. "i want ice cream" i said while getting my things and leaving the room.
"wait Kenzie" he never called me that "tell me. then we can get ice cream" he said holding me from walking away. i took a deep breath "Ms Green wants me to perform at the show" i told him. "okay and..." he questioned like it was no big deal. i got kind of mad about that "really Hayden. you know my mom doesn't know and you know that..." "hey Kenzie. calm down" he said putting his hands on my shoulders "deep breaths" i looked at my best friend and calmed down a bit. "look, you can live you're life by your moms rules forever Mack. you have to do what you want. you'll never please everyone so just please yourself. you should do it" he said. "should i? am i really that good?" i asked him. "yes, yes you are. you don't even know how good".
he kept waiting for and answer. "i'll think about it. but maybe i'll do it then" i said. he tenderly smiled at me and pulled me in one of his comforting hugs "and if you do you'll do great" we stayed like that for a while before he pulled away. "now let's get ice cream!". times like this made me so thankful to have gotten into this school and met Hayden. he was like a brother i never had, like my support system. he was amazing.

john okay i'll think about it but i won't be able to rehearse...
dad you're on tour, there is no better rehearsal if you do decide to do it you'll need to let us know the song and etc

dad okay! enjoy you're time there kiddo you deserve it we all miss you here
