Daniel POV

Last night, everyone went home and I slept peacefully in my bed. I'm also really full from the food and drinks. Congrats to Bella still! She can't stop smiling about winning the championship. I yawned groggily and rolled out of bed. Mom and dad are out with Uncle Dom and Aunt Letty, Uncle Rome, Tej and Ramsey. Somehow I smelled smoke in the air. What is that? The smell flew closer in the air. I brushed my teeth and washed my face and walked out the bathroom. Bella walked out of her room. "Where is that smell coming from?" She asked. I shrugged. The championship belt was wrapped around her waist. I rolled my eyes as we made a beeline downstairs. The smoke came from the kitchen. We both covered our noses. Isabel and Jack was in there arguing while he held the pot on the stove. Our eyes widened. Bella coughed. "What is going on?!" She yelled. They stopped arguing once they saw us. Isabel grabbed a tablecloth and fanned the smoke in the air. "Jack was unfortunately trying to cook mom's famous broccoli and instead, almost set the kitchen on fire!" She said. He rolled his eyes. We looked at each other and smiled. "Mom's famous broccoli?!" We both said. Mom cooks the most delicious broccoli with ranch or salad. I sighed happily. "It taste so good." I whispered. Jack nodded in agreement. "I was making us some so we can all be happy but Isabel's too bossy." He said. We shared chuckles except her and Bella. "Whatever. You can't even cook tilapia and the instructions were in the cookbook!" Bella joked. Isabel laughed. My eyes diverted to the burnt broccoli on the pan. I looked at it in disgust. "Yeah, bet these were in the cookbook too." I said. Bella opened the window for the smoke to go. Thankfully, it was starting to. Jack shrugged. "Well none of us don't know the freaking secret recipe to making broccoli." He said. "Let's check the cookbook." Isabel said. She pulled out the book from the cabinet. We walked closer to her as she flipped through pages. She smiled when stopped at one page. "The instructions are here. First we need to buy stored broccoli from the store to heat it up. And of course, a big spoon and another extra bowl to cook under the pot. Jack didn't thought of that." She said, chuckling at the last part. He crossed his arms. "Does it say anything else?" He asked. She shrugged. "Just salt ingredients to feel the flavor. That's a piece of cake!" She said, placing the book on the counter. Bella and I smiled. "We wanna help!" We said. Isabel chuckled. "Sure. You'll help me gather tools to cook the broccoli. Jack will go buy the cold bag of broccoli from the grocery store." She said. By the time she said gather tools, we were in speed getting another pot and Bella dumping out the one Jack used. I pulled out a big spoon for stirring the broccoli. Isabel smiled and turned to Jack. He scoffed. "I can get store broccoli any day. I saved money from my street race so I'm good." He said, racing out. I chuckled.

Two hours later...

Funny, it's been two hours since Jack left and we've been waiting for exactly two hours. Bella was getting impatient and called him two times. Isabel called three times and he still didn't answer. All the doofus had to do was buy the broccoli? What happened? We heard the door open and shut. Jack rushed in sweaty and worn out. He handed Isabel the broccoli bag. I sighed. "Dude, what happened? And why you're all sweaty?" I asked. At the same time, he was kinda limping. Why was he limping? He huffed. "My car somehow stopped in the road so I had to push it back here." He said, out of breath. Our jaws dropped. "It must've ran out of gas." Bella said. "Or the engine seized up." Isabel added. He nodded in agreement. "I'll go take a shower and do...whatever I do! Go ahead make the broccoli!" He said, trying to walk his way upstairs. Something was off. Totally off. He ran back sweaty and worn out, he was kinda limping and said his car stopped running. Isabel and Bella immediately started cooking the broccoli. I went upstairs to check on Jack...or spy in that matter. He was in his room with new clothes on and wrapping stitches around his ankle. He must've broke his ankle on the way here. I crossed my arms and smirked. "How did you break it?" I asked. Jack jumped at my voice and turned to me. "Were you just standing there?" He asked. I chuckled. "Duh. How did you break your ankle? Take it from a guy who made his bleed from a hoverboard accident." I said. He sighed. "I didn't break it. I only scraped it." He said. I nodded in understanding. "That happened to me too." I said. He took off the stitches, showing two cuts on his foot. I hissed at the sight of it. Then he wrapped them around his foot. "You sure you'll be fine?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah. How's the broccoli thing?" He said. I almost spoke till we heard two screams. Isabel and Bella's. We quickly ran out of the room and downstairs. In the kitchen we couldn't believe our eyes. The pan on the stove was on fire, Bella's holding a broom which is also on fire and Isabel's trying to put the broccoli in a bowl. Jack immediately helped by turning off the stove and dumping the pot in the sink. I ran and grabbed a fire extinguisher. Bella was still panicking. "Put the broom down!" I yelled. She whipped her head at me. "What?!" She screamed. "Put it down!" I repeated. Bella dropped the broom and I sprayed the broom. The fire was officially gone. We breathed heavily at what just happened. Isabel inhaled a shaky breath. "Ok. It's clear none of us can cook perfectly good broccoli." She said. Bella scoffed. "None of us? I wanted to learn to cook it by myself! You're the one who used too much flavor." She growled. "I used too much flavor? It says sprinkle the salt and pepper!" She said. Bella fake smiled. "Two words. Drizzle it." She sassed. I sighed. "It's fine, guys. We don't know how to make it either. Take Jack for example." I said. He looked at me coldly. "Seems like when two or one of us cook it, it all ends up in a disaster." Bella added. Jack smiled. "Maybe we could do it together. We used to do things together when we were little." He said. I smirked. "Technically, that's because we went to the same school." I joked. We shared laughs. Bella smiled. "I agree. Lets cook some broccoli!" She said. We cheered.

Bella POV

Isabel washed the pan and all of us read instructions from the cookbook. We also decided to bake too. Jack and Isabel handled the broccoli while me and Daniel started baking a chocolate-strawberry cake. We love that cake! Thankfully, we had ingredients to make one. Once I finished putting the cake batter in two pans, Daniel placed the pans inside the oven under 350. "I'll time when the cake's done." He said, going on his phone. "Me too for the broccoli. Hopefully, we did good." Isabel said. We each took a long break and watched TV in the living room.

Both timers were up and personally, we were hoping the broccoli would taste good this time. Also not too burnt. Isabel opened the top of the pot and the broccoli wasn't burnt. It was clean and looked super tasty. We cheered loudly. "Broccoli!" Jack cheered. I laughed. It wasn't burnt because the stove wasn't on too long. Me and Daniel checked on the cake in the oven. It was finished and the batter melted! "Yes!" I cheered, high fiving him. He chuckled. I grabbed a cloth to pull the hot plate out and on the counter. Isabel smiled. "The cake needs to cool off for a while...meaning- she stopped giving a smirk. We smiled instead. "Broccoli time!" We yelled. I kept laughing. We grabbed plates and got some of the broccoli. I added ranch on mine's and so did Daniel. The deliciousness of the ranched broccoli was in my mouth. It tasted exactly like mommy cooked. We stayed on the couch like this for the a while.

The cake cooled off and we put two cake batters together. Isabel helped with the icing and strawberries because of how much we would taste it. Duh, it's icing! We finished the last touches and it looked more like this:

Isabel grabbed a knife and sliced herself a piece. I did the same and passed it to Daniel. He cut himself a piece and gave the knife to Jack. Once we had slices, we took bites. This cake tastes like heaven!
We responded with moans of its deliciousness. "I love it!" Isabel said. "Much better like the Easter cake we had." Jack added. We chatted in agreement. I smiled. "It's clear the O'Conners are gifted chefs!" I said. We chatted in agreement again. Yup we are, there was hell in the kitchen but slayed with best broccoli and a very frosted cake. The sound of the door opened and closed. Our eyes diverted to who showed up.  Mom and dad, Uncle Dom and Aunt Letty, Uncle Rome and Tej, Ramsey and Aunt Giselle. Their jaws dropped at what they surprisingly saw. Mostly mom and dad in surprise. "What's all this?" They asked. We smiled. "Dinner time!" Me and Daniel said before chuckling.
