Alicia's pov

Today was the day of Kara's baby shower.

I was surprised to be invited, guess it must have something to do with her and Skylar's friendship.

But the only question that had been on my mind was 'what do I get someone that seems to already have everything?'

I mean all I know about babies is that they eat, sleep and cry and have cute little outfits.

This is why I asked Tyler if he could come shopping with me before the baby shower began.

I thought he would be hesitant at first but he was actually really enthusiastic.

He said that he also had to get something so it worked out perfectly.

We both met up at the shopping centre and started to walk over to one of the baby stores.

This is why we are now looking at baby bibs and bottles.

"So do you know what Kara wants exactly?" I asked him.

"She isn't a really picky person. I guess something practical is always good, I mean that what Tori always likes when she receives presents for Nikki."

"So do you know what you're getting?"

"Honestly, no. I'm just going to look until I see something good."

We kept looking around until we found the toys section.

I felt a smile creep up on my face. I've always loved toys, although I'm too old for them now. They just have this bright positive energy when you buy them and then start to play with them.

Unfortunately Tyler must have noticed since i heard him trying not to laugh.

"What? Can't someone just love toys?" I asked him.

"Yeah but you literally look like a kid on Christmas."

"Well maybe we're all just kids at heart."

This caused both of us to smile.

"So I guess as I kid it's ok if I do this?"

I was about to ask Tyler what he was talking about until he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder, causing me to lose my breath for a few seconds.

"Ty-Tyler put me down."

"Ok." I felt him start to let go.

"NO, no!" I tried to whisper scream.

This just caused him to laugh a bit.

He continued to tease me a few more times until he eventually put me down.

I punched his arm, not to hard of course, once I was on the ground.

"Ok. I guess I deserved that. But you did say we're all kids at heart." He told me.

"And when I was 5, that's what I would probably do." I shot back at him.

He laughed again, causing me to laugh a little.

"OK. I guess we better try and find something since we have to leave in 40 minutes."

I walked further down the aisle, looking at all the toys.

I wasn't too sure what Kara was having so I decided to try and pick a gender neutral gift.

After 10 minutes something finally caught my eye.

It was a teddy bear with the words 'I love you' written on its stomach. On the patches of its feet was a grey and white pattern and it also had a match bow tie. The bear also came with two grey teething rings and a grey bib.

It was perfect. I grabbed its box from the shelf before trying to find Tyler.

I walked up a few aisles until I found him. He was starring at a book or something but looked sad.

"Tyler." I said walking up to him.

He suddenly looked up and rubbed his eyes.

Had he been crying?

"Are you ok?"

"Ye-yeah I'm fine, you ready to go?"

I reached up for his shoulder. I don't really know why, it just felt like the right thing to do.

"Hey" I said calmly "you can tell me anything, you know."

He was a bit hesitant but then took a few breathing before beginning to speak.

"I just found the same book that Flynn use to read to me when I was younger."

I felt my heart break for him.

I could only imagine what he was going through.

"Tyler, I can't say I understand how you feel, but I can only imagine. But even when someone's not here we still have all the memories we made with them. And the best thing about stories and books are that they can always live on and be introduced to a whole new generation who can make new memories with them."

We just stared at each other for a while until he looked like he had completely calmed down.

"Thank you Lish and you actually just gave me a good idea."

"What's that?" I asked him.

"I'm going to buy this book for Kara's baby so he or she can have the same memories that I had."

"That's a lovely idea Tyler."

I gave him a hug because he looked like he needed one, before we walked over to the cashier.

She was kind enough to wrap my gift but Tyler just asked for a gift back.

We started walking back to the car when Tyler voice, but I couldn't make out what he said.

"Sorry Tyler what did you just say?"

"Oh it's nothing."

"You can tell me. It's fine." I told him.

"I just asked if you think you'll ever have kids?"

A bit of a strange question but maybe thinking about his childhood had just brought up some more memories for him.

"Yeah I hope so. I think I would like 3. How about you?"

"I would want kids. Maybe 4 or 3. I don't really know. Depends on the women I guess."

This made me laugh a little.

"That is true. I hear child birth is one of the most painful things in life. How come you asked?"

"Just curious I guess."

Well we were just in a baby store. Made sense.

We continued to walk to the car making small talk.

I knew that Tyler hadn't told me everything about his brother but I was ok with that. I knew when the time was right he would tell me. But for now I'm just going to enjoy the present with him. After all we have the whole future to worry about, but only have the moment to live in.
