Justin sat at the small, circular table in the kitchen at the Jensen's house as he ate some breakfast. Sitting across from the teenager, Matt caught up on some news on his tablet as he held a cup of coffee in his hand, taking small sips of the hot beverage every now and then. The room fell into a comfortable silence as the Foley boy, and Lainie and her husband were waiting on one more person to join them before their plans would commence. Seeing as the kind woman was starting to get up to go check on her son again, Justin put a hand out as if to stop her. "I'll go see if he's up, Mrs. Jensen. You just sit back down and enjoy your breakfast." The basketball player said, causing the his brother's mother to flash him a kind, grateful smile as she took her seat again.
Walking up the stairs to the upper level of the house, Justin smiled to himself. Once at the top of the staircase, the teenager glanced down the hall to the open door. The Liberty High jock only laughed to himself when he entered the bedroom to find Clay fast asleep, hanging off of his bed just a little bit. "Come on, Clay. You got to get up, man." The Foley boy said as he walked over to the blue-eyed teen's bed. Getting nothing in response from his brother, Justin thought of something else that may get through to him. "If you don't get your butt downstairs in the next five minutes, I won't hesitate to eat your breakfast myself." The Foley teen threatened, knowing how much the 19-year-old loved food. Seeing as his threat made no difference in the situation, Justin scratched the back of his head as he glanced around the room, trying to figure out another way to successfully wake up the sleeping male. As his eyes soon landed on an object resting on one of the shelves, the jock smirked to himself as he walked over to retrieve the item.
"Alright, you asked for it, Jensen." The basketball player said before pressing the small, red button, cauing a loud horn-like noise to sound, successfully startling Clay awake as he fell out of bed and hit the ground with a thud. Now fully alert, the teen glanced around for the source of the sound that had nearly given him a heart attack. "What the heck, Justin?!" The blue-eyed male questioned as soon as he spotted his brother trying hard not to laugh at the reaction he had recieved from his use of an air horn. "Hey, I tried waking you up nicely twice before. So the air horn is what you get." The Foley boy defended with a matter-of-fact tone lacing his voice. "Now hurry up and get dressed. You're mom says were going back-to-school shopping after breakfast." The jock informed before walking out of the bedroom as he left the door wide open behind him.
After watching Justin walk away until he was out of sight, Clay sighed to himself before chuckling and getting up off of the floor. The teenager rummaged through his dresser and picked out some clothes to wear for the day before placing them in a neat pile on his bed. The 19-year-old then headed towards the bathroom to take his morning shower and freshen up for the long day of shopping that he had ahead of him.
Minutes later, the Jensen male ventured downstairs to see Justin, Lainie, and Matt sitting at the kitchen table together as they enjoyed some breakfast. "Morning, Pal." His father greeted as soon as he saw him enter the room. "Morning, Dad." The boy replied with a small smile as he walked over to grab his plate and load it with some breakfast that his mother had prepared. Once the dish was full of some fruits, a few strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, and some pancakes, Clay joined the others at the table and began eating the foods his mother had made.
Once everyone had finished their breakfast, Lainie, Clay, and Justin left the house to tackle some back-to-school shopping while Matt hung back to prepare himself to go back to work as well. After a somewhat short drive into town, the three found themselves at the Mall as they began aimlessly looking around for anything that stood out to the two teenage boys. While going through many of the Mall's clothing stores in search of some new shirt, pants, and even jackets for school, the 19-year-old accidentally bumped into someone as his attention had been on some men's clothing he was passing by at the moment. The boy began to apologize before he stopped altogether as soon as he saw who the person was. "Hey, Helmet." Hannah Baker greeted with a smile as she stood alongside her mother. Clay instantly smiled, blushing as he nervously and subconsciously rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand. "Hey, Hannah." He greeted in return. "I take it you're doing some back-to-shopping too, Clay?" The girl's mother asked. Glancing behind him, the boy saw his mother looking through a rack of clothes with Justin. "Yeah. I guess it would appear that way." He said before turning back to the girl and her mother. Glancing over the boy's shouler, Hannah watched as Olivia excused herself and walked over to where Lainie and Justin were, soon starting up a conversation with the older woman while the jock continued browsing through the clothing rack.
Soon enough, Hannah and Clay continued talking as they began looking through clothes together. Seeing her boyfriend not really finding anything he likes, the Baker teen smiled to herself as she found an article of clothing that she felt suited the teen nicely. "I think you should branch out a bit in your style, Helmet." She spoke, gaining the blue-eyed teen's attention. "I mean, you've already warmed up nicely to my advice about your hair." She added with a small smirk as she lightly ran a hand through his casually messed up hair. At the comment, Clay playfully rolled his eyes, but he decided to play along. "Alright, I'll bite." He said. "What kind of style do you think I should branch out to?" The Jensen male asked curiously. "How about I introduce you to the world of denim jackets?" Hannah suggested, holding up the black jacket with silver buttons. Deciding to be open to the wardrobe addition, the boy smiled before turning around while Hannah held the jacket for him. The 19-year-old placed his arms into the sleeves before turning back around and adjusting the jacket over his shoulders slightly. Even though the jacket didn't look best with dark gray cargo shorts, the teen focused on his upper half as the white t-shirt he was wearing complimented the denim jacket quite nicely. Off to the side, Hannah smiled at her boyfriend, blushing a bit at how attractive he looked in the dark-colored jacket as he admired his appearance in the small mirror that was attached to a column closeby.
After a couple of hours of back-to-school shopping, Lainie, Clay, and Justin all made it back with a few shopping bags in their hands. The two teenage boys carried bags with a few new pairs of clothes for school while Lainie carried a bag with some new school supplies for them. Hanging out with his brother for a bit now, the Foley teen placed his things near the front door so that he wouldn't forget to take them with him when he left to head back home a little later.
After some time, Justin left to head back home. After walking him out and watching his brother drive away until he was out of sight, the 19-year-old headed back inside. He soon went up to his room to begin getting changed and ready for his shift at the town's movie theater. Clay smiled as he was excited to go to work today since he knew that he would get to hang out with Hannah again as the two teens would be working at the local cinema together for the next few hours.
Being the first of the two to arrive to the theater, Clay Jensen was quick to busy himself by taking the task of gum scraping duty. Pretty soon, the boy's focus zoned in on scraping the gum off of the chairs, and he didn't even hear someone enter the building. "Hey, Helmet." An angelic voice greeted, causing the teen to smile instantly as he stayed on the ground by the chairs, but turned to see his girlfriend. Hannah couldn't help but blush at the adoring look and smile her boyfriend was giving her. Not being able to resist herself, the girl walked over and knelt down beside the teen as he watched her every move, and soon ended up looking slightly upwards at her. "Hey." The blue-eyed male greeted, though it seemed that he was the one blushing now. "You're adorable." The young woman commented before leaning down and closing the gap between them with a quick yet passionate kiss. Feeling her boyfriend smile as he eagerly kissed back, Hannah soon pulled away with a small smirk. "There's that word again." Clay commented after collecting himself, causing the girl to laugh a little at his words. As she got back up, the Jensen male felt a hand leave his thigh, and only then did it register in his mind that her hand had been resting there during the whole exchange. This realization only made the 19-year-old's cheeks go hot and red all over again at the thought.
Later on, after a decently busy night at the Crestmont, the blue-eyed male had invited his girlfriend over to his house. With Allison and Harley already being upstairs for the night, and with his parents being out on a date night, the young couple seemed to have the house to themselves for a little bit. After some debate, the two teens decided not to do anything loud enough to wake up Harley, so they soon settled on sitting on the couch together and having one of their famous random conversations. The topic often changed, becoming even more random than the last, and soon, Clay sat on the couch against the armrest as Hannah lied beside him with her head resting in his lap as she held his right hand in hers comfortably.
When Matt and Lainie arrived home around an hour or so later, the two adults entered the house, only to find their son and his girlfriend fast asleep together on the sofa with Clay sitting up while Hannah lying beside him as she was comfortable cuddled up against her boyfriend with her head resting against his thigh. The boy's parents smiled at the sight in front of them, and Lainie decided to step away to call Olivia to let her know that her daughter would be staying with them for the night, but Mrs. Jensen's motherly side took over as she assured Hannah's mother that nothing would happen between the two teenagers. After ending the call, Lainie watched as Matt left the room, soon returning with two blankets that he carefully layed over the sleeping couple. After turning off all the main lights but leaving a small, dim table lamp on for the young duo, the two adults quietly headed up to their room to call it a night and head to bed themselves.
