Milan sighed as she heard her mama call her name. She had one math problem left and she would be done with her homework for the day.
"Dinners ready Rose, come eat!"
Quickly scribbling her work down, she then circled her final answer before getting up from her chair. She slipped inside her house shoes before opening her door.
She walked down the long stairs and around the corner, into the kitchen where she saw her dad fixing plates. "Chile? I thought you said you was only cooking that when it got cold," Milan questioned as he passed her a plate.
"I changed my mind. I been wanting some for the longest," Kareem answered while pecking his daughter forehead. "You finished your homework?"
"What's up Milan," she heard behind her causing her to turn around. She screamed as she placed her plate down and ran into his arms.
"Nixon," she yelled kissing all over his face. "When did you get back down here?"
Nixon laughed as he placed her on the ground. "Yesterday, I'm finally done with the army."
Nixon was the son of Tori and Will. They adopted him when he was only two after Will saw him in a foster home. Nixon was forever grateful for his parents for saving and loving him. He didn't know what he would do without him.
"So you're staying here," Milan asked.
He nod causing her to squeal and hug him again. Although he was a couple years older than Milan, they had a close bond since he stayed over her house with the boys. He was quite their age so sometimes he would play with Milan outside.
"Damn Nixon is that you," she heard a familiar voice behind her causing her heart to speed up. She turned around and saw Truth walking into the kitchen.
"My boy," Nixon exclaimed giving Truth a brother hug. They hugged for a couple seconds before pulling apart.
Why do everyone is know him besides me? Milan questioned herself as she grabbed her plate from the counter. She turned around and saw her dad standing behind her mom kissing all on her neck. "Come on y'all—please get a room."
Kareem smacked his lips turning towards her, "You always cock-blocking, gone somewhere."
Milan stuck her tongue out before walking pass Truth as if she didn't know him. In order to keep them a secret, they had to act normal. She went into the den and saw the boys eating while watching Menace to Society. She rolled her eyes because she hated that movie. The ending made her sick.
She sat down with her food and half watched the movie.
"Mateo get yo' ass in here," they heard Selena hollered causing them all to give each other a look. They immediately ran to the front to see what Mateo was about to get in trouble for. It was their thing, they loved laughing when someone got in trouble.
