As soon as I stepped in the house, after I had shut the door, Julie was wrapping her arms around me and basically suffocating me by squeezing me too tightly.
When she pulls back, she cups my face. "Why would Nicole and Brian even think it was ok, for one second, to let you go off by yourself."
I smiled then placed my hands over hers, giving her a gently kiss. When I pull back, I stared at her. "It's ok, babe. It was not even far away. It was here in town."
Julie knew I had an appointment with a therapist. I didn't tell her when I was going because she'd just want to come, and knowing her, she would harrass Tonia with so many questions.
It was best if I tell her that I was going when I got there. A lot more shit to deal with when I got back, but totally worth it.
"What did they say? What did you say?" She kept asking as I was walking into the kitchen.
Opening the fridge, I smiled at her as I took out a water bottle. "She just asked me a lot of questions based on what happened." I took a sip. "I had to tell her my past first, then work my way up to this point."
"Do you think she helped?" She asks as she's leaning against the counter, watching me.
Shrugging, I tightened the cap back on the bottle. "Not sure yet. But, she did tell me a lot of methods to use to help me. I could use them."
I watch as she sighed then ran her hand through her hair. "I just h0pe it helps. I hate seeing you like this. I hate worrying so damn much." She ran her hands down her face. "I just want everything to be back to normal."
"It'll take some time, Julie. But it'll happen." I stared out the window, hoping that it'll be soon.
-
Milly's laughter was filling the room as I was spinning her around. Her head kept bouncing backwards then forward as her giggles were loud.
I loved her laughter so much. It was something that made my heart swell inside of me every time I heard it.
"Enough, mama!" She yells, laughing.
I stop spinning her then sat her down on the couch. I watch as her head was bobbling back and forth and I couldn't help but chuckle.
She fell sideways against the couch with a smile on her face. I cross my arms as I look at her. "Was that fun?"
Nodding, she slowly sits up and looks at me. "There's two of you!" She laughs.
I smile then saw Julie walking in the room. She looks over at us and smiled as she walks to the couch and sits down.
She looks over at Milly. "What's going on?"
Milly smiles at her. "Mama spun me around super fast and got me dizzy!"
"Inside the house?" Julie looks at me.
I slightly smile. "I was being careful."
She shakes her head then looks through her phone. I watch her for a moment. I smile then lean over a little and grabbed her phone from her.
I turned it towards me to see what she was looking at. "What is this?"
"It's a book and I was reading." She grabs the phone and stares at me. "Don't just snatch my phone away."
I chuckle. "Why are you reading on there?"
She looks at her phone for a moment. "I found this app, and I'm addicted to it. Shut up."
I shake my head and look at Milly as she was watching Julie. I smile as I sit on the other side of her, placing my arm around her and pulling her close.
She places her head against my chest and I couldn't help but smile as I look over at Julie.
Looking back at me, she smiles as she looks down at Milly. She looks back at her phone and I take my time to look her over.
I cannot believe that this woman has put up with my shit for over eight years. It's crazy to think that I was just a teenager crushing on her in high school, and now here we are, married and has a child with her.
"I want to ice cream." Milly randomly says.
I look down at her then back up to see Julie watching us. I smile at her as I was begging with my eyes because I wanted ice cream too.
"Please?"
Julie stares at us for a moment until she sighs. "Alright, get the keys."
