Seokjin avoided running into Namjoon after that teasing remark back in the forest. When he barged into the kitchens, the omegas looked up at him from their tasks, eyeing him curiously. It was very hard getting himself to calm down enough for his flushed cheeks to return to its natural color. Even so, after that day he always made sure he wouldn't run into Namjoon. He opted for staying inside the kitchens and prepping food for the fall rather than going out and gathering fruits and vegetables.
Despite his hard efforts, it wasn't enough to keep himself from running into said alpha. That's how he found himself walking amongst the trees, his hand held firmly by Namjoons. The afternoon sun was casting low hues of light between the trees. It would only keep streaming through in various colors as the sun kept going down. He knew how bad this would look when the two return at night and many of their pack members see them. But even then Seokjin let himself be guided, forgetting about his initial goal of staying away while he sorted through his thoughts.
"Have you been avoiding me?"
Seokjin looked up with wide eyes as soon as the question reached his ears. Namjoon didn't have to look back to know he was caught like a deer on a hunt. He remained quiet, focusing on his feet and making sure he didn't stumble on any roots or rocks. Namjoon kept walking, passing through the trees that were beginning to dance with the blowing breeze of the approaching night. He doesn't let go of his hand either, holding it gently but tight enough for them to not separate. The sight of their two hands together does a funny thing to Seokjin's heart, making his stomach tumble nervously with butterflies.
"Where are you taking me?" Seokjin stutters.
Namjoon looks back, not answering, a small smile playing on his lips instead. It made the omega feel nervous, it would be dark soon. Anything can happen in the forest when the sun goes down. But the warmth of the alphas hand was reassuring. If he were there with someone else he would run back to the pack without a second thought. But in that moment he trusted and followed after him.
The last glow of orange was streaking across the sky, the shadows growing longer amongst the trees. It was then that they finally broke through to a clearing, a small hill appearing right away.
"Hurry before we miss it."
Namjoon sped up, pulling him up the hill until they reached the top. Seokjin let his mouth open in utter amazement, his eyes wide and full of disbelief. A span of land was clear, a grass field spreading far between until more trees began lining at the end. From that small hill, the setting of the sun over the horizon of trees was beautiful. It was something Seokjin had never seen before, something he never thought he would be able to witness. Hues of orange and pink dusted at the tips of the long grass. It was like a sea of sunlight dancing with the wind, moving effortlessly into crashing waves as it blew along. The last warmth of the sun skirted along before it finally disappeared behind the trees.
"Wasn't it beautiful? I almost thought we wouldn't see the sunset." Namjoon chuckles, letting his hand go and rubbing the back of his neck.
Seokjin turns to him, a pleasant smile making its way across his face. He hasn't felt so happy, and has never been made so by anyone. He doesn't know what comes to him but he throws himself at the alpha. It comes to an utter surprise, catching him unguarded and unable to keep his footing. Namjoon holds him tight as they tumble down the short hill and fall onto the tall grass below. They fall in each other's arms, the alpha landing on his back and holding the omega above him. Seokjin laughs, hiding his face in his chest, it makes Namjoon chuckle in return.
"Thank you for bringing me here. I absolutely loved it." Seokjin mutters shyly, looking down at him through his lashes.
Namjoon looks into his eyes, getting lost in the delicacy of them. The omega was beautiful, his scent cascading down on him like a waterfall and he was drowning. He brought a hand up, cupping Seokjin's cheek and bringing him down. A wave of panic clouded the omegas scent but he didn't stop, he brought his face lower until their noses were touching. Namjoon bumped his nose against the omegas before leaning up and pressing a chaste kiss on his lips. It was quick, letting him go right away and sitting up swiftly.
The small twinkling of stars was beginning to gather on the sky like specks of shining diamonds. Seokjin noticed the position they were in now and he scrambled off the alphas lap and took a seat beside him. He managed to get his heart under control, instead trying to focus on something else and casting his gaze upward. Looking up at the sky, and getting lost in the million specks of stars coating the vast sky of blue. His heart was hammering his chest once again, his mind spinning and his lips hot from his first kiss that was rushing back memorably.
"It's my first gift." Namjoon breaks the silence first. He's looking up at the sky too, his ears red from how nervous he was growing.
"Huh?"
"I want to court you. But I wanted to give you a special gift that you can have to yourself without the rest of the pack knowing. It's also a promise, that you're the only one who will ever get something as intimate as a kiss, from me."
Seokjin turns to him quickly, eyes wide again but for a different reason now. It was Namjoon's words that had him feeling like a mess. The insinuation that the alpha wanted him and only him as a possible mate. Years of the pack alphas not participating in the courting season backed up his words. It comes to his surprise that he has been the only one to receive such a special gift. A promise that he would be the only one receiving it from the alpha.
"Are you sure? There's so many omegas you can choose, I'm no one special."
Namjoon stands up, dusting himself off before looking down and offering a hand towards him. Seokjin takes it hesitantly, eyes wandering away nervously. Namjoon doesn't answer, he only smiles before making his way back over the hill and through the trees. He follows the alpha, walking behind him as they make their way back to the pack. It's quiet for a long while, only the steps against the earth are the only sound between the two. The occasional snickers of nature reminding them that the forest was alive despite the sun not at its high heat. They were already reaching the pack when Namjoon stopped. He didn't turn around to face him, but his posture was certain and dominant. Seokjin only stood quietly, waiting, hoping.
"You don't have to be special. You're perfect, not for anyone, not for the pack. But for me."
