This is a story about April Mendez. You probably know her as AJ Lee, but that's just a character she plays on TV.
She works at a company called WWE, I'm sure you knew that as well though. Well, no need for introductions. Let's get back to the present.
*
April breathed heavily backstage after her match. She had just become the Raw Women's Champion.
She took a long break from WWE and now she's back. She thought for a long time that she was done with WWE and she'd never return. She also didn't think that they'd want her to return, but after speaking with Vince McMahon, and hearing a long speech about what's 'best for business' he scheduled her for a match right away.
April had broken up with CM Punk and felt free of the ties that held her away from the company, naturally she began training again.
After almost a year of training, here she is. Back on the main roster, not only that, but as the champion.
"Congratulations, April."
A voice broke April from her thoughts and she looked up to see all three members of the Shield standing before her.
"Thank you." She said, showing a genuine smile of appreciation.
She looked around and sighed, "Have you guys seen Tamina anywhere?"
They all looked at each other and shook their heads.
She ran fingers through her hair, "We drove here together, but she's probably used to being alone that she left."
"Do you wanna ride with us?" Seth Rollins asked.
"Oh, if you have plans or anything, I can happily take a cab." She flashed a smile again.
Seth shook his head, "We're all going to the same place. Might as well save gas and money."
April jumped up out of the chair she was sitting on, "I need to change first, where should I meet you?"
"We have to do a promo. It'll probably only take ten minutes at most, but meet us in the parking lot."
"Yessir." She says saluting the men causing them all to laugh.
She rushed back to her locker room and quickly changed out of her gear.

"Finally! I've been waiting out here for days, months, maybe even years." April says dramatically as the three men walk over to meet her.
Dean smiled, "It's only been ten minutes."
"Don't girls take forever, how did you get out here so quick?" Roman asked, laughing.
"All I had to do was change. Getting ready to go out, now that's a different story."
They lead the way to their car, Roman gets in the front seat, Seth in passenger, and April in the back with Dean.
Roman turned on some music and she laid her head against the window, "So this is how the Shield likes to get down?"
Dean looked over at her, "Just Roman. He says, 'When I drive, I control the music.'"
"Makes sense, I figured you would all have similar taste after being in a tag team for so long."
"A tag team until someone sold out on us."
This caused Seth to turn around, "Please, I sky rocketed all of our careers with that heel turn. You're just jealous me and Roman tag team without you now."
The boys continued to bicker about it and April's eyes began to feel heavy. Wrestling was fun, but a toll on the body, especially when you haven't done it for a few years.
Her phone rang and she jumped out of sleep.
"Look who's awake." Seth laughed looking at her from the mirror.
"Gosh, I'm sorry." She look down, kind of embarrassed, her cheeks turning a light shade of red.
"Don't be embarrassed for sleeping, we're all exhausted right now. Be embarrassed for that ringtone."
Her face turned a darker shade of red and her body burned as she quickly declined the call on her phone to stop the music.
Dean shrugged, "My theme song is pretty cool. You're just jealous her ringtone is mine not yours."
"Am not."
"Are too"
"Am not!"
They went back and forth and Dean began kicking the back of Seth's seat.
"Ladies ladies! Enough!" Roman yelled at the two men fighting, "I want to listen to my music."
"We don't." Dean said.
His reply caused April to laugh and he looked at her and they laughed along with each other as they approached the hotel.
They all got out the car as she thanked them, way too many times.
"You should ride with us more often." Seth said and leaned against the car as Roman opened the trunk.
"If Tamina forgets you again, you know who to call." Dean smiles at her.
"Thanks guys, goodnight. I'll definitely be calling again." She says waving at them while walking into the hotel.
They are nothing like how she imagined. She always thought they were all too different to get along, maybe today changed her mind on that.
