"We'll start a buddy system!"

The classroom groaned with the suggestion. The white haired boy only looked prideful in his idea and revelled in the thought of it. He already had everything set up, and it showed through his smile. Nobody knew how he was still the class monitor after what had happened the last year, but votes said they wanted him again. Probably nobody else was willing to take responsibility for this chaotic class' actions.

Joseph looked as if he was flourishing in the praise a parent would give after getting good grades. It was silly. His blue eyes sparkled as if in a candy store. His lips upturned slightly to the side, showing little to no teeth.

A brunette scoffed, being seated to the very right in the middle row. His legs were rested on the table, a small speckle of dirt could be seen left by his red shoes, the shoes not following the school uniform, but the teachers never cared about them. "And how would that work?"

"I'm glad you asked, Mr. Subedar. Now I can explain this to the whole class," of course, the class either groaned, made a comment, or just didn't care enough to respond. This in a way hurt Joseph, but at this point he was used to it. "This buddy system will require everybody to have a buddy and have to always stick by their side when at school."

A hand was raised, the sleeve being the gray color of the blazer of the school uniform. The nails of the owner were painted a pastel pink, with the pinky and thumb being yellow with a pink star decal. Joseph pointed his finger to the raised limb, gesturing for the owner to speak.

Her voice was practically a melody by how she used it. It was as if diamonds came out of her mouth everytime she spoke in class, due to her unwillingness to participate. But this discussion must be a crowbar to that vault of diamonds. "Why is this happening?"

"Thank you for being so polite, Margaretha. Unlike some people." His blue eyes trailed off, catching at the class delinquent and giving him a look of disapproval. The boy rolled his eyes in return. "I came up with this system so nobody would be alone, and everybody could take tabs on their partner."

"Seems like y'are really lonely," a southern accent spilled. Kevin was sipping from a juice box left his breakfast. "Maybe you should get a girlfriend if y'are goin' to mope aroun' all day like that."

"Har har, very funny." Joseph rolled his eyes as his hands were fisted on the desk. Why were his classmates so hard to cooperate with? He felt like kicking Naib in the chest by how he did not care to not even look up from his phone this whole time. "If somebody is missing, we would know because of this system. Also, people won't have to be looking for partners for school projects. Partners will be paired up by school performance and interests through a survey. If any of you don't take this survey seriously, I'm going to pair you up with somebody who won't care as well. Also, this system will give you extra credit."

Michiko raised her hand, but did not bother be called on to speak as she saw Joseph look her way. "Could we pick our partners ourselves?"

Joseph put a finger to his chin and shook his head. His ponytail swaying in the process. "Nope!" He said, popping the P. "But if you have synonymous answers in the survey, you might."

However Joseph managed to persuade their class teacher with this idea, nobody might ever know. Why he was doing this was also very strange. Then again, Joseph was one of the outgoing, popular students, so who really cares. He was friends with almost everybody in the school. Most of his class were the only people who he was not friends with, because they saw him everyday.

The survey sheets began to get handed out. Then Aesop was handed his survey sheet. He never really spoke much, not to anybody other than Eli and Chloe. Occasionally he spoke to a girl named Vera, but their conversations were very awkward due to only talking to her because she was Chloe's sister. Eli and Chloe were also in a different class than him this year, how lucky of him. They only hung out during lunch at this point.
