Luka

We left Ransom and Mikhail where they had found us. She was going to try and find a way back to help Raine. I wanted to get back, Myra wasn’t answering me. Was she ignoring me or had something happened? I wasn’t sure. I had been looking for the tree that marked the wooded entrance to the Hideaway when the vision hit.

The girl looked up at him smiling. Her blue hair shined when the sun touched it.

“We heard you were dead. I am so happy you are back.”

I wrapped my arms around her smelling the sweet scent of the mint she had been collecting. The sound of laughter echoing through my bones and the sun disappeared, taking Luna with it.

The vision shifted.

I stood in Vail’s town square. It had been abandoned. The red brick buildings, whose color had amazed me a month ago, were scarred black from a fire that still crackled nearby. I walked through the town I had called home. My steps echoing back the emptiness I felt.

It wasn’t long before I was at the small cottage that Luna and her family shared. To my relief it had been untouched by the fire in town. The woody smell of the rosemary that grew next to the gate greeted and reminded me of my love for the people who lived here.

I never made it through the gate. The house was consumed by flames as I watched. There was nothing I could do, but hope it was empty like the rest of the town.

Hailey stood next to me “They were looking for you.” she said. “This never would’ve happened if you hadn’t come here.

She turned and watched her home burn. The last thing I saw was the three small birds that marked her shoulder.

Rykar was shaking me. “Myra, Nyght…. Someone, I don’t know what to do.
