It's a beautiful morning. The sun rising in it's own slow tempo, giving the cold morning some warmth. The windows in the big skyscrapers reflected the first sunbeams they met. It was early but the city was always full of life. The prestige full nightclub some blocks down had still life in it with people coming in and out. Cops were early up protecting their city. This city slept just as little as New York. And apparently just as much as me. It's early in the morning and normally I would be sleeping like a baby. But today the sun woke me up and I wasn't able to fall back to sleep.
As I look over the beautiful city I can't help but hear Snotlout's question over and over again:
"What are you doing here?"Since I came here I've tried to avoid that question that seemed to always be lurking around the corner.
What am I doing here? To be honest it's not because my father forced me, it's the reason why he forced me. Lately business has been going well just not the lady... business. Not that I haven't tried I've gone on countless dates and been in a few relationships. But I just haven't found my Waow yet. You know that feeling when the smallest touch lights you on fire. The Fourth of July fireworks explodes in your heart and every inch of your body blushes.
Falling in love is a dangerous thing, my father told me, but it's all worth it. Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to talk about a girl the way my father talks about my mother. But no luck so far. The very few relationships I've been in have been nice and sweet but not Waow. The same goes for the dates I've let my friends set me up on. No real sparks, no fireworks.
I know it's silly thinking I can find it in Los Angeles but it won't hurt to try and like my father said in the end it's all going to be worth it.
I step out into the streets joining the people of Los Angeles. As I smell the fresh air a car in full speed drives past me. Their speed makes me tremble back. Not long after a cop car with full speed and sirens on high alert flies past me.
Looks like I just witnessed a car chasing first hand. Shortly after two bodyguards comes over and surrounds me. I shake my head in annoyance. Of course my dad wouldn't sent me to Los Angeles without back up."Guys I'm cool, please tell my father I don't need any bodyguards" I tell them looking up at them since they're both 6'5 or more.
"Sorry, Mr Haddock's order" they both grab one arm each and drag me back inside.
I sigh as they pull me back into the building."I'm fine nothing happened" I explain but they don't look convinced.
"We should call a doctor and your father" one of them say.
"Please, this city is my shot at being normal. Tell my father if he wants what he wants he has to let his guard down" I get up from the chair they placed me in and look at them both. You can't see their eyes through their sunglasses but I try my best to look them in the eyes.
"How long have you guys been following me?" I ask since one of them seems awfully familiar.
"Since you arrived, sir" they both answer in choir like they've practiced this.
"But we lay low Sir Haddock" his thick British accent made my name sound way to formal.
"You won't even notice us"
Well too late for that, but I give up knowing my dad and these guys are not going to leave me alone.
"Fine, but stay low I don't want to be reminded that my dad don't think I can handle myself in Los Angeles" they both nod in response.
"As you wish Mr Haddock" They both fold their hands and stand tall making them look 6'9 or more. Apparently they keep growing.
"Please call me Hiccup" I say trying to make this feel less formal.
