The Wave

Have you ever felt like there's been someone else inside you desperate to claw its way out, wanting to find release? That's exactly how Josette felt. She felt that her whole life. She always knew there was more to her. Maybe this was it, the true person crawling out.

Josettes vision went blurry for a second, her palms sweaty. She turned her head quickly making a dash towards her car keys that were on a small stool. "I'm so sorry....." she said backing up. The lights in the room began flickering. Josette zoomed out of the room in fear.

As she stepped out of the room the lights began flickering throughout the whole hospital. Josette raced into the elevator out of breath. Once Josette stormed out the ginger followed. He bolted towards the elevator as the doors were closing, but it was too late. "Shit." Jerome cursed under his breath.

"Josette you need to calm down, you're fine. This is just a Dream." She reassured herself. She was pulled out of her thoughts as she felt the elevator stop. Her mind racing a thousand miles. The door wasn't opening. Her breath became heavy and rapid.

Jerome sprinted down the many stairs at the hospital determined to get to Josette. Once he made it to the first floor he looked around. His head spinning in multiple directions for a sight of Josette.

"Come on why isn't this opening!" She frantically pressed buttons repeatedly. The girl combed her fingers through her brown hair in frustration. Her head was in all sorts of places. She felt everything in that moment, to much for her to handle, Josette backed up in a corner. All her emotions took over like a wave. Memories flashed. She saw them vividly. Flashing from Jerome, to Bea, to Elijah, Jim, her mom, then Eddie. Each voice echoing in her mind as if they were bouncing off the walls of a cave.

"Ugh! Get out of my head!" She demanded putting her hands on the top of her head pulling her own hair. The light flickering stopped, the lights permanently stayed on. The elevator door slid open slowly revealing the rest of the hospital. Calm and quiet, with no clue what was going on.

Was this the end?

Why are my thoughts so loud?

No time to think.

Josette ran out, her head quickly turning to the exit. One leg in front of the other, until she was out. A drop of water hit her nose, another then another. She looked up. The rain soon soaking her hair and clothes. "Am I doing this?" She asked herself.

No impossible.

She was now in the parking lot. Running up and down in search for her car.

Finally

Her shaking hand went inside the pocket of her jean jacket. Unlocking her car with her rattling keys gave her some relief. Not enough to calm her down though. Rain hit her windshield making small thuds. At this point she forgot about her boyfriend, some girlfriend she was.

She started her car, the radio turned on faint music was playing. Her moms favorite song. She knew she recognized it from somewhere.

Why are you thinking about this?

Drive.

Her foot pressed on the gas. She didn't stop for anything, at least she tried not to. She slammed on the breaks as a little girl crossed the street with her mother. Both hand in hand. Dressed almost similar.

The girl had black hair, hazel eyes and a rainbow backpack that moved to the rhythm the small girl was walking in.

Josette focus.
