You were different. You weren't the usual skinny girl that you wished you could be. You were plus sized, thick thighs, thick waist. Sometimes you hated yourself for getting to this point but your best friend always reassured you that you were beautiful, no matter what size you were.
It was prom season, the season you were dreading. You best friend Ruby asked you to go to prom with her because she had just broken up with her girlfriend. It was mind boggling to think that someone like Ruby would ask you to be her prom date. What did she see in you?
After asking multiple times that resorted to begging you gave in and said yes to being her date. Who could deny her anyway?
Now you were here. In this very expensive looking dress shop with her. You were pretty sure you couldn't afford one of these dresses, let alone the jewelry that was showcased to match the dresses.
You had tried three dresses so far and you didn't like any of them. You were beginning to think that saying yes was a bad idea when Ruby spoke up from her spot on the couch.
"No Y/N. Don't even think of it. We're going to prom together and even if I have to drag you to every shop in town to look for the perfect dress, I will do so" you said, the firmness in her tone present. You weren't getting out of this easily.
You stared at all of the other girls who were happy to have found their dress and here you were. Tears were welling up in your eyes as you looked around.
"Oh no Y/N. What's wrong babe?" Ruby questioned gently, seeing your distressed state.
"It's just that I don't look like all of the other girls. They're so pretty and tall and skinny. They can fit into any dress and me? I can't fit into anything but my baggy clothing. Maybe you should find another date Ruby, I don't feel like going anymore" you sniffled, "what's wrong with me?" you questioned to nobody in particular.
Ruby got up and walked over to where you were standing, "Oh babe, nothing is wrong with you. You're beautiful just the way you are and believe me, I wouldn't have asked to to be my date if I didn't think you were drop dead gorgeous", your cheeks turned cherry red at that compliment.
"You're just saying that"
She cupped your cheeks in her hands, "No babe, I'm not just saying it. I'm being honest, you're beautiful in every single way. Don't worry about what other girls look like. You're pretty, you're awesome, you're sexy and so drop dead gorgeous that I can't even keep my hand off you"
Shocked. That's what you were feeling at this moment. Did she just.....
"Did you just?..." you trailed off.
"For fucks sakes Y/N. How daft can you be. I've liked you for the last two years. Why do you think I dumped Lacey a month ago?"
Oh.
"For me?"
"Yes baby, for you", that term of endearment had your cheeks heating up yet again.
"Now cmon, let's get you out of this dress and find another one. I can't wait to see what the next one looks like on you, and my bedroom floor come the night of prom" she said with a lusty look in her eyes.
"Wha-", you were about to question when she cut you off by kissing you.
You couldn't wait for the night of prom.
