tyler made his way into the coffee shop and spotted haven instantly. she was taking an older man's order. tyler stood in line behind the man and smiled at haven. she smiled back.

"$8.54!" she cheered to the man.

"keep the change, beautiful." the man said as he handed her a ten dollar bill.

haven smiled, "thank you. your drink will be right up!"

"thanks. feel free to write your phone number down for me, doll." he flirted.

tyler shook his head and instantly felt himself get hot from jealousy or anger. he watched haven for her reaction. she looked at the man with wide eyes. "i don't have a phone sorry!" she said before turning around to make his cappuccino. tyler let out a small nose laugh which caused haven to giggle before handing the man his drink. "large hot cappuccino blonde for you!" she said before turning to tyler.

he waited for the man to leave to release his laugh, "then what do you use to text me?"

"shut up! i panicked!" she laughed.

"i can literally SEE your phone in your back pocket!" tyler pointed and laughed again.

"shut up! you want coffee or not?"

he calmed down and hoped haven couldn't see the faint blush on his face, "yes please. do you have breakfast sandwiches or anything?"

she nodded, "bacon or sausage?"

"bacon, please."

"usually it goes on an everything bagel but i know you like asiago cheese bagels so i got you." she said as she walked over to the bagel case to start making it. "go sit down, you're good!"

"haven let me pay"

she shook her head, "never!"

he chuckled and pulled out $10, placing it in the 'tips' jar. "feel free to write your phone number down for me, doll." he mocked the older man from earlier before taking his seat. haven had to stop creating the drink to laugh, which caused tyler to laugh too.

she finished the food and drink after a few minutes and brought it to tyler, taking a seat with him. "ta da!"

he licked his lips in preparation for the drink, immediately taking a sip. "yum!"

"let me know how the sandwich is. i've never tried it on that type of bagel but it looks really good!"

tyler nodded and took a bite. "it's amazing!" he said with his mouth full which caused haven to giggle and give him a thumbs up. "you have to try it!" he said, shoving the sandwich into her direction.

she shook her head, "no it's yours!"

"TRY IT" tyler jokingly shouted.

haven saluted him before grabbing the sandwich, "yes sir!" she took a bite and her eyes widened as she licked her lips. she gave the sandwich back to tyler, "it's really good!"

"here, to wash it down." he handed her his frozen drink to take a sip.

she giggled but gladly accepted the drink for a sip. "thanks tyler!"

tyler smiled at the brunette. he was really starting to like this girl. he wishes they could hangout outside of the coffee shop. maybe he can make a move before someone else comes in?

"hey haven?" he asked out loud, sinking into his chair.

"hey tyler?" she mocked back, wiggling her eyebrow at him and leaning towards him to show interest in what he has to say.

"do you get a break today?"

she chuckled and nodded. "yes at 12:30, why?"

"do you want to get lunch or something? my treat?"

she looked into tyler's eyes and opened her mouth to reply but got cut off when a customer walked in. she gave him an apologetic look before getting up to go behind the counter to take the man's order. the door rang again as two more customers walked in and tyler sighed. haven gave him an 'i'm sorry' look as she continued with her job. he pulled out his journal and pen, knowing that he will only be able to stare at the blank pages and wish to be able to fill them all up with song lyrics. he sighed again and finished his sandwich as haven worked. he felt his phone vibrate so he pulled it out to see a text.

i'll get lunch with you. only if it's not mcdonalds.

tyler smiled at his phone and looked up to see haven sneak a glance at him and then chuck up her peace sign and a duck face, before returning to making her drink. he chuckled and typed in a reply.

deal. wendys it is. ;)

he watched haven see her phone go off as she handed the first customer his drink. she chuckled and took the next customer's order before trying to sneak in a quick text reply. he felt his phone vibrate again so he removed his gaze from haven to his phone.

i want something that won't make me hate myself

he laughed at his screen before replying.

understandable, anything you want is fine by me :)

he barely had a chance to look up before she replied.

red lobster, most expensive meal on the menu?

he smiled and bit his lip as he replied.

anything you want <3

haven tried to hold back her blush as she continued working and making drinks for the customers. she finished up within a few minutes and all the customers were on their way. except for tyler. and she was happy about that.

"are you going to stay here until 12:30?" she asked as she leaned on the counter.

he smiled, "i wouldn't mind. i'm working on my writing!" he held up his journal to prove it.

she squealed, "ooh! can i read something?"

he paused and frowned, feeling insecure immediately. "yeah sure. let me find something"

she nodded and made her way around the counter to his table yet again, taking a seat.

"here's an idea i started but haven't finished yet..." he trailed off, handing her the open journal and pointing to a specific part on the page for her to read.

her eyes scanned the page as she read,

i keep on going back

even though it's me i abuse
i'll keep on going back

even though i am bruised
face of contusions

i know i'll keep moving

"i like this! it's deep." she said, handing tyler his journal back. their fingertips brushed quickly and tyler felt his heart do a flip in his chest as a blush made itself obvious on his cheeks.

"thank you, it's not finished yet."

"is it going to be a poem?"

"i'm not sure honestly..." he trailed off.

"it almost like a song, like this could be a verse." she said, thinking about it. "if you're into that type of writing." she shrugged before standing back up.

"i'm not opposed to it, i guess." he shrugged back.

"you're a good writer nonetheless tyler!"

"thank you! i'd love to see your paintings sometime."

she smiled, "good plan."

"do you-" tyler got cut off by a customer once again. haven gave him an apologetic look again before going back to her job.

from then on, that's how it went. they would be a few sentences into a conversation before a customer would interrupt. which is fine, but tyler wants to talk to her.

luckily, he'll get to talk to her at their lunch.
