"Water off." Galaxy Girl commanded and the mechanical arm of the Voice Activated Shower Operator twisted the dial and the water was turned off.
Toxic has built the V.A.S.O for Galaxy Girl after she ripped the knob off the last one.She dressed up and returned to the bedroom to find that her rival has woken up and was sitting in bed, watching the world news channel. The newsroom cut over to a pretty ginger scene reporter.
"Hello folks, this is May O'Connolly with a breaking news update." Announced the girl, with a much too serious tone for her easy going features.
"Bringing you this news live from Paris France, I'm here at Yuri Institute of Chemical Technologies, a facility in which just hours ago was robbed of several highly unstable chemicals."
She continued as the camera panned back to reveal a white haired French man standing beside her, dressed in a lab coat."Standing here with me is Doctor Emile Gaston; chief chemist here at Yuri Inc. Doctor, could you please tell our viewers exactly what has been stolen." She asked, moving the microphone over towards the aging scientist.
"Of course madam." He begins. The hero was surprised at the fluency of his English."Benzerium, dineminium and agriclorithia."
The reporter, as if trying to prove an urgent point, pulled the microphone briefly towards herself,
"Are these chemicals dangerous if placed in the wrong hands?"
The professor gave her a small smirk.
"Madam, every chemical can be dangerous if in the wrong hands, even oxygen." He stated with a knowing look."But to answer your question, these 3 components alone are not dangerous, but when mixed with other things they can become highly unstable."
"Thank you very much Doctor Gaston." She nodded thankfully as the camera zoomed away from the man’s face. "Oddly enough, no known terrorist organization or supervillain has claimed responsibility for this heinous theft; leaving many to wonder who the culprit could be. Reporting live for The Global News network, this is May O'Connolly."Toxic shut off the TV and his dark eyebrows knitted together, making his face to wear a worried look.
He stared blankly ahead. He was in his head, calculating something rapidly.
"Benzerium, dineminium and agriclorithia...." He muttered to himself. "Mixed with the Calorific Acid from the last heist... Tribynite and Opidrium from Italy..." He whispered hurriedly.
His eyes began to widen as he snapped out of his trance. He swiveled his neck till he was gazing directly at Galaxy."Radiation..." He said to her.
"They are trying to create radiation."
"Radiation?" She questioned in puzzlement. What could be so special about that and why would someone go to such lengths to create something they could easily buy ready-made on the villain black market?"What's so special about that?" she voiced her previous thought out loud
"Not just any radiation. THE radiation." His voice filled with drama.
"Our radiation."Still, she was confused. She had been saving the world when she should have been in science class. Galaxy looked at his green aura.
"No not my radiation."
He said, shaking his head.
"Not this poisonous mutation but the original. The radiation from the meteorite.""Oh..." It suddenly hit her
"That radiation."
Toxic jumped out of bed and began pacing the floor, and running his hands through his long, glossy black curls.
"But it won't work. It can't work!" He muttered in disbelief, staring at the floor as he continued to pace.
Now, she really didn’t know if it was her or himself he was talking to."The last remnants of the meteor were destroyed years ago. The radiation is impossible to recreate. It cannot be done. My father tried for nearly a decade, and if he couldn't do it, no one could! The project is not possible!" He cried as if the very notion angered him.
He continues on his explanation/rant."The whole villain community knows that project is a bust... The humans figured it out as well, some later than others. Last year the Russians tried in secret, but all the subjects refused to take. Slipping into unconsciousness, the mutations happened too fast. The cells degenerated and the test subjects all died within half an hour."
He explains.Galaxy rolled her eyes, governments were always trying to mimic them, and the super powered beings she meant. Often with disastrous results. This turn of events was no surprise.
"But why would anyone want to try again. Why go through all the trouble? It's a dead end." Toxic said. "Like literally dead, the radiation kills." Suddenly, Toxic’s stopped in his tracks. It couldn’t be what they wanted…or could it?"Unless...." He started "Unless a disaster is what they want!"
Suddenly the dots began to connect. Galaxy Girl may have been of only an average IQ, but she had foiled enough evil plots to be able to figure one out on her own. This was also one of the things she understood, something she knew about. The meteor was as much a parent to her as either her mother or her father."They want to use it on the world leaders!" she exclaimed.

A/N:
Few more temp jobs lined up so the rougher parts of my sources of stress have been slightly, but still nothing solid yet. On the bright side, I'm trying a new tactic to garner more reviews for Arch Frenemies, and will be holding a sale this weekend. Download the whole book in its entirety for JUST 99 cents. Marked down from its usual price of 4.99
All I ask is that afterwards, please leave an honest review and star rating on Amazon. This will help me get more traffic to the book, and in turn help me get a little closer to being able to make writing my full time job.
Thank you all.
