Before tonight, I never knew I could get turned on like that. Watching her bring another guy to the dance floor after last week infuriated me. I had never been so jealous and reckless in my life, grabbing onto Kara and doing things to her that I wanted to do to Dani. I kind of felt bad afterwards, knowing she had liked me, but after what she did to Dani earlier I couldn't care less about her feelings.
God, the look on Dani's face when Kara slapped her. I doubt anyone noticed the shift in Dani like I had. It was like her whole demeanor changed. When the drink was thrown in her face she was ready to fight back, but the moment Kara's hand came down on her she froze. It was so uncharacteristic of her, at least from what she had shown me, which, honestly, hadn't been a lot.
I was grateful once I saw my small group of friends, Kara nowhere to be seen. Bishop's face lit up when Sammy came into view and I couldn't help but smile at their little flirtation.
"Bishop, Harry and I are gonna head out. Can I have my stuff?" I heard her say as I scanned the crowd.
My eyes stopped when I saw one of the girls Dani was with earlier. She was standing with a taller boy, Eric Carter, and my attention peaks. I knew Eric... didn't care much for him, but he might be my in for Dani.
"Sammy, I'll be right back." I say quickly, walking away before she could respond. I could feel my friends curious eyes following me, but payed them no attention. I made my way over to the two of them swiftly, putting on a fake 'bro' smile for Eric, "Eric, man how's it going?"
They look at me, and I see Eric's face light up in recognition, "Bro, what's up? It's been a long time."
We bro hugged, patting each other on the back harshly, "I know, I know. I've been busy."
I glanced down at the girl, who was eyeing me carefully. I think she knew who I was, and I remembered, suddenly, that I had a makeout session with Dani just a few feet away in clear view of her friends. I couldn't help but smile at the memory, but turned my attention back to the two people in front of me.
"Hey, I saw you earlier with a girl I know..." I started awkwardly, completely unaware of how to do this type of thing.
Eric raised his eyebrows in surprise, but the girl next to him was the one who spoke up, "Who?"
I looked down at her and knew, instantly, that she knew exactly who I was talking about.
"Uh, her name's Dani..." I say hesitantly. The way this girl is looking at me is causing me to rethink everything. It's like her eyes are judging every inch of me, ready to report back to Dani and her friends of my awkward incompetence.
Eric snorts, "Yeah, good luck with that one."
I couldn't help but glare at Eric, but a small smile forms on my mouth when I see his girlfriend give him the same look.
"Don't be an ass, Eric."
"Cassie-"
She cuts him off with the wave of her hand, causing me to stifle a laugh at just how whipped this Cassie girl has got Eric. She turns her attention back to me, "What do you want with Dani?"
"I just..." What did I want? I wasn't going to try and get her number from her friend, knowing Dani would give it to me if she wanted, so what was I even doing, "Um... I don't really know. I guess I just want to know if she got home safe." I finish lamely.
Eric snorted once again and I shot him an annoyed glance. God, that fucker was a real douche. I turned my attention back to Cassie and noticed how her entire expression has softened and she was now looking at me a little differently.
