It was the third day already. Finally, (name) could go home after her two nights stay at the hospital. Apparently, she got a lot closer with her doctor in these past two days. Both of them got to know a lot about each other.
Well, they only told the basics, but still better than nothing at all.
"Done packing?"
A sudden voice coming from the door startled (name) though it was not an unfamiliar voice.
She just smiled.
"Yes."
She shifted her gaze towards the door.
"What are you doing here, doctor?"
"Nothing much."
Todoroki rubbed the back of his head as he got deeper into the room.
"My shift is over just a few moments ago."
She glanced at him.
"Oh? So you did overnight last night?"
"Yeah..."
He arrived in front of her. (Name) had finished packing her stuff and zipped her bag. Then, knowing that the doctor was here for something, she asked his purpose.
"Is there anything that you need?"
Todoroki was a bit embarrassed when (name) asked that questioned. He didn't know it was so obvious that he had a reason for meeting her.
"Um..."
He began.
"Well... Since you are heading home, and I have just finished my work, so... I was just thinking, maybe I can send you home? We can go grab a drink somewhere on the way."
The blush on his face caused (name) to chuckle. It was so cute how such a cool and sophisticated doctor became so shy and stuttered like that.
"Well... Not like I have any plans anyway. I'll take your offer."
Todoroki's face brightened as soon as he heard the answer. Then, like a trained gentleman, he took her bag that was on the bed and carried it with him.
"Then, let's go."
He showed her the way and let her walked first before catching up soon after.
Upon reaching his car, Todoroki opened the door for her.
"Thank you."
(Name) said kindly before getting into the elegant car while Todoroki put her bag into the trunk and then filled in the driver's seat.
"So, which way is your house?"
He asked casually, with the same cool tone he always had.
"Turn left at the junction."
(Name), already used to her personal doctor, answered him. And their journey to her house started.
On the way, their journey was rather quiet. Both didn't have anything to talk about and both weren't having any ideas in mind that could be their topic. In the end, it was a silent ride. (Name) was enjoying the view of the city. It's still early, but a lot of people is walking along the road. There were kids, adults, old people, and even the disabled. Each and every one of them was enjoying their life to the fullest.
Suddenly, her mind was stirred.
'But what about me?'
The question suddenly popped up inside her mind. It had been a question that she frequently asked herself ever since she knew about her illness.
'Am I enjoying my life?'
A feeling of melancholy seeped into her heart as soon as she thought about that. She was sad, but had no way of showing it. She smiled, but it was not enough to get rid of her agony.
It was painful, even for her.
No matter how much she held it in, there were times where she couldn't contain her emotion.
No matter how hard she tried, the sadness just wouldn't go away.
In the end, she cried.
"Are you okay?"
The sudden question surprised her.
"Y-yeah..."
Like usual, the girl hid her true feelings and cover it with a fake smile. She had been doing this a lot, so it wasn't that hard for her to pretend.
Some of us really do fake a smile a lot, and (name) was one of them.
Todoroki slightly glanced at her.
Even from the side, he knew that she was not okay. But he didn't know how to ask.
It would be rude to ask her something that she didn't feel like telling. Therefore, the only way was to open her heart so that she would share with him.
"Hey, (Name)... You don't have any plans today, right? Wanna spend the day together?"
Todoroki tried to make it sound as casual as he could, but it was still awkward. (Name) was also shocked. She just stared at him blankly.
He called her by her first name as if they were so close.
"Wh-what? Why? Weren't we just going to have a drink somewhere? Plus, you worked overnight last night, doctor. Aren't you tired?"
"Never mind me. Do you want to go or not?"
Todoroki was rather blunt. He didn't want to talk or explain much when he didn't think it was necessary. He just needed an answer.
Meanwhile, (name) was having a deep thought about this. It was so sudden, so she was surprised.
'Spending a day together' sounded like a date. That's why, she hesitated a little. However, she didn't have a reason to refuse either.
In the end, she made her decision.
"W-well... I don't have anything to do, so... alright."
The answer brought a smile to Todoroki's lips.
"Very well then."
He immediately turned the car's direction towards somewhere else that (name) didn't know. Even though it was so sudden, he looked like he had a plan already. As for (name), she only followed him with no particular expectation in mind.
And that day, it all began.
