Syzygy
(n.) an alignment of celestial bodies.

spirits like you are the vast universe we astronauts get lost in

stealing the brightest stars and keeping them inside me
in hopes that my flawed soul will eventually illuminate
a wild dream that you'd light me up like a Christmas tree
a lost traveller I was once, but now I'm drowning in your sea
I shouldn't have closed my eyes to dream and hallucinate

comets like you hide the platinum that everyone searches for

the asteroids are entering into my once calm atmosphere
and the celestial bodies have lost their gravity to hold you
I was beginning to love your storm but you wish to disappear
you are either my best choice ever made or the one I truly fear
for you fill my starless skies with colours of each and every hue

stars like you are sometimes the black holes we always dread

it was that moment of realisation, falling again without caution
don't know if I regret this feeling or wish I'd be drunk in it for long
you're the orbit to my planet, the one to keep me in constant motion
I find every single beautiful trait in you in an adequate proportion
because of you, I see the stars align in a perfect line, like a celestial song

asteroids like you are always on the run, too energetic to settle down

you unknowingly make me feel unloved as if I don't belong here
today the cold walls gave me the warmth that I didn't get from you
you felt so far away like my beloved moon although you sat so near
I was chasing stars earlier, but I'm after a complete universe this year
in your eyes, I see constellations and tears that are only seen by a few

galaxies like you are hurt behind that beautiful mask you wear every day

lights flash brightly and I recall that this was how it always felt
me being ruthlessly in love and  wishing some miracle would occur
watching the strong exterior I was trying to build gradually melt
your eyes were a dark, expensive wine but your smile wasn't heartfelt
oh, darling, do you observe my sorrow too when you're with her?

satellites like you are extremely good at hiding your sufferings

it was another start of a never-ending tale between two lost people
I live for the little moments and the memories I'll hold on to forever
in this endless ocean of love poems, this one is probably just a ripple
but it's a promise that I'll love you with all your flaws, right or illegal
for this unsung celestial song holds our memories, our names together

but only poets like me listen to you when you sing the celestial song

all of us sing a celestial song that only the ones who love us can hear.
with tonnes of love,
