Mason was getting worried about Harlem. He hasn't talked to her in 5 days. That's a long time for the two of them. She's called and texted but he hasn't responded. She decided to go to his house. Of course she had to take an Uber because she didn't have a car.
Mason knocks on his door and an unfamiliar face opens the door.
"Who are you ?" The man asks looking down at her.
"Oh um im mason. Is Harlem here ?" She asks looking at the strange mane. This must be Harlem's older brother. She thinks. They look none thing alike.
"Yeah. Harlem some weird looking girl at the door for you!" He yells into the house mason looks at him. She didn't care what he thought.
She sees Harlem come out and he looks at her then back to his brother.
"Don't answer the fucking door and you." He says pointing at mason. "come outside." Harlem says pushing mason out the door.
"Why you come to my house huh ? Usually if I don't call that means I don't want to talk." Harlem says crossing his arms at her.
"Well I got worried. It's been 5 days what's wrong ?" She says coming closer.
"Mane.. my brothers here for a few day and I don't want y'all to meet. He's .. never mind all that but that's the reason." Harlem says not looking at her.
"That's the reason you didn't want me to come over." Mason says trying to make him look at her.
"Yea. My brother just got out of jail and he's not a good dude mane.. Ian want you to get creeped out and run off ya know ?" Harlem says sighing.
"Awe Harlem you didn't want to scare me away. Look at you wanting me to stay by your side and stuff." She says smiling pinching his cheeks.
"Aye aye what I tell you about my face." He says trying not to smile but he couldn't help it.
"I'm sorry but -" mason gets cut off by foot steps.
"Wussup little bro you gonna introduce me to your friend." His brother says smiling at mason.
"Nah you good." Harlem says trying to walk away but get pushed back.
"Well I'm Rick. His older brother." He says holding out his hand for mason to take it.
"Oh um im mason." She says quietly.
"Okay that's enough. Where leaving mason." Harlem says grabbing her hand and going out to his car.
"He didn't seem creepy." Mason says laughing.
"Shut the fuck up. You don't know him like I do." Mason jerks her hand back from him.
"Listen here Harlem. I don't like that language or tone you using with me." She says crossing her arms.
Harlem holds brother of her arms and looks her in the eyes.
"Look mason I'm sorry. I'm just stressed. I don't like him being here. You forgive me ?" He says sighing.
"Yes I forgive you." She says hugging him. He doesn't hug back at first but then he wraps his arms around her and gives her a tight squeeze.
"Harlem.m, I'll always be here for you. No matter what. Even if you try to push me away. Ima always here okay ?" She says hugging him even tighter.
Harlem doesn't say anything. He just hugs her tighter. He couldn't say anything. He was at a lost for words. Mason was truthfully his world even if he didn't want to admit it.
"I know mason. I know." He says finally letting her go.
"I hope you do. I mean if I didn't hang out with you. Who would you have huh ?" She says smiling.
"Myself." Harlem says quietly hugging her again.
"I don't know where I would be if you hadn't came up to me that day honestly." Harlem says sighing.
