My mum

There she was, all in blue. Her beautiful blue-skinned body was covered with nothing but a ankle-length creamy coat. I remember the wonderful times we had before I ran away and found refuge with another woman for a few months until I left with the Ravens. I ignore my thoughts-she turned on me, remember! She neglected me! It is not MY fault we could not stay together it is all HERS!

I had tried not to think about it, but that's why I have always hated my nickname, 'Raven', because of her! I don't ever want her name, that horrid soul abandoned me and you know what her mutant name SHOULD be? Neglecter! Abandoner! Okay, they aren't very good, but I can always make up a better one and the point still stands. 'Mystique', yeah right, there's nothing mysterious about her, not to me. I know the real, true her.

"Elizabeth, honey, please come here," My mum is standing there, looking at me with arms open wide. This coming from the woman who threatened me and my friends not so long ago.

I walk towards her, my entire being bursting with rage and annoyance, but I do something completely unexpected, "Mummy!" I run into her arms, bewildered at my own actions. I guess I never really thought about how much I lied her and truly missed her, underneath all that anger.

"Elizabeth, where did you go? Why did you leave? I did everything right by you, I cared for you, I kept you safe and then the day before we start training, you run away. I could have showed you how to defend yourself, made you into my brave daughter who fought side by side with me. But what did you want to do? Become an Xavien coward?" She half-jeered, half moaned at me.

"No, Raven, you left ME, so I ran from Eric and Angel and everybody else who were relieved to have you gone, relieved that they didn't have to look after me anymore!" I almost scream in her face.

My rage returning to me, a tingling sensation starts in my hand and I know exactly what I want to do, exactly what I'm GOING to do. I pull back and then push my clenched fist, full force, into her face. It was a stupid move. Raven grabbed my hand and twisted it so hard my whole body flipped over.

"I don't want to hurt you, please don't Elizabeth, I only know a bare minimum of non-deadly moves".

"THEN WHY DID YOU LEAVE???!!!!!" I shout in her face.

"I ONLY LEFT FOR A FEW DAYS!" And the shouting match begins...

..."I WAS GOING TO COME BACK!"

"SURE YOU WERE, WHY DID YOU EVEN LEAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN?!"

"BECAUSE I WANTED YOU TO HAVE SOME BONDING TIME!"

"WITH WHO? THE EVIL HUMAN-MURDERER KNOWN AS MAGNETO?"

Mystique froze in place for a second and replied with a calm tone, "Yes."

I can't believe what she just said! I don't say anything more, just stare at her in surprised horror.

"Everyone does it nowadays."

"EVERYONE DOES NOT ABANDON THEIR CHILDREN AND LEAVE THEM IN THE VICINITY OF A MURDERER!"

"No, no, I didn't mean that, oh what's it people call it?"

My mothe-no, in fact she doesn't even deserve to be called that name anymore-Mystique, is not acting herself at all. Then again, I haven't seen her in what, eight years?

"Ah, that's right, it's called...

...Father-daughter bonding time."
