*Marie's POV*
After school I give Jack a ride to his house, and he invites me inside.
"I didn't know you meant today." I said.
"Yeah it's fine c'mon."
I get out of the car and he walks in front of me. There's a woman standing there.
"Hi I'm Jack's mom! It's nice to meet you! You can call me Mrs. Johnson."
"Hi Mrs. Johnson I'm Marie." I smile.
"Wow your the first girl that Jack has let me meet."
"Mom, stop." Jack says, wide eyed.
I giggle. "We're not a thing, though. We're just hanging out." I smile.
Jack leads me upstairs and shows me his room. "This is it." He said smiling.
"It's huge." I say, admiring it.
He laughs. "So.... What do you wanna do?" I shrug. He's being a good host.
"Let's just talk. Outside. C'mon." He says leading me out to a terrace.
"So how's life?" He asks me. I sit down in a chair.
"Uh.... Good?" He chuckles. "I mean I don't really do much." He smiles at me and nods. "You?"
"I'm getting tired of the same old same old. Just want to do something......."
"Different." I say, finishing his sentence. He nods and smiles, widely. A cute smiling which is the reason that I feel for-
Stop. He doesn't like you. He's just trying to be nice. Pity. Don't need it.
"A penny for your thoughts?" He says, wondering
"Why are you treating me like this?"
"I realize that I'm a total douche. And like I said before I'm tired of the same old same old. I want a different kind of." He trails off in his own words. Then he looks out across his backyard. "Everything. I'm ready to change."
"How do you think your gonna accomplish that?" I ask, wondering myself.
He looks at me. "Maybe this will start things." And pulls me in, kissing me slowly.
"Jack." I say, pulling away.
"No. I want this. Please." He says, his face inches away from mine.
"But gilinksy. Kissed. Me. This morning." I say, nervously.
"He's trying to 'protect you' from me, so you'll far for him and won't get hurt. but I swear to you. I won't hurt you." He says.
"Why? Why do you feel this way?"
"Because your personality, because your different, because your beautiful. Marie I've watched you. I've watched you almost every day. I've been trying to find a way to reach you. And I know you have a thing for me. Please don't try to deny it. I just want you."
I sigh. "Your complicated." He chuckles
"Says the one who won't crash her lips onto mine right now like I want." He said, biting his lip.
And that lip bite, even such a little thing, sets me off.
I kiss awkwardly, it feels like. I've never really done this before. Every guy kind of thinks I'm weird. There's Gilinsky, this morning, but. That doesn't really count I didn't really kiss back.
Jack helps me, though. He takes control of the kiss. He cups my face with his hands and makes me feel okay. He makes me feel safe and comfortable in my own skin, something that I haven't felt in a very long time.
"Okay. So here's the deal. We need to get to know each other. I want to go on dates and stuff before anything gets to too serious. We can't just kiss all the time." I say
"I knew that you were what I wanted."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I told you I wanted something different. At our school the girls.... Their sluts, to say the least. And then I started getting this weird feeling every time I saw you, but couldn't make a move because I thought you would use me like the other girls did. Just for sex. I don't like that. I like feelings and emotions that come with a relationship. I like the weird feeling I get every single time I see you. I like the way my mind thinks 1,000,000 different things when you flash your perfect smile at me. I want something other than sex. And I know now that you won't just use me for sex. This morning, when I saw you in the hallway: I couldn't help but say something. You looked scared and I just wanted to hold you and call you mine. But we really really really need to take this slow. You understand?" He says looking at me intently.
"Yes. I couldn't agree more." I say, looking down because I get nervous when I look at him.
"Your so cute when your nervous." He says, leaning his chair back and looking across his lawn. Everything was good. Everything was perfect.
Until Gilinsky and Sammy started banging on Jack's bedroom door.
