Day 15....

"Wake up!" The guard said. I opened my eyes slowly, realizing that I'm still in Arkham. The good thing is Jerome's cell is right next to mine. We don't talk a lot, except in the cafeteria. But that's mainly because I have no one else to sit by. I don't think it's that he doesn't want to be around me, but he's probably still upset about what happened with our mother. I walk out of my cell, and head to the cafeteria.

"Hey sis" Jerome says.

"Hey. What's for breakfast today?" I ask.

"Same thing as it always is. Slop." He says.

"How much longer till we're free?"

"Well, definitely not soon. Usually murderers stay in prison longer."

"Great."

"Hey, it's not so bad."

"Oh yeah? Well you at least have people to talk to, while I don't."

"There's plenty of people here that would talk to you. You just can't be shy." He says then chuckles.

"It's hard not to be shy when there's crazy people around here."

"Jersey, we're all crazy here. Some people just show it more than others."

"Yeah, well I'm not crazy. I'm completely sane."

"Really? Then why are you here?"

"Because, I lied to the cops about killing mom."

"And I told you that you didn't have to do that!" He yells as he slams his hands on the table. I flinch, and the tears start coming. He sighs, "I'm sorry Jersey. I just wish you didn't have to be here. This place isn't safe for you."

"I know it's not. But I'd rather be with you then staying with all of the circus people."

"I'm sorry." He says tearing up.

"For what?"

"For everything. Killing mom, putting you in this hell-hole, and just being a terrible brother."

"Jerome, you're not a terrible brother. You've been there for me since I was born. Now, it's time I be there for you."

"Thanks Jersey." He says as we hug.

"Alright, everyone back to their cell!"

"If you need anything, talk through the vent. Okay?" Jerome says.

"Okay." A guard then escorts me back to my cell. I laid down on my bed, praying that I'd escape from here eventually. I just don't get why Jerome thinks I'm crazy. I'm not, I'm completely sane. I've never committed a crime, well, I lied to the cops about committing one, but I've never actually done one. I just hope after we get released, Jerome will stay sane and not continue doing any more crimes. I fell asleep for about an hour, when suddenly the guard woke me up.

"Get out of bed!" They dragged me to the cafeteria. It wasn't lunch time, so I'm assuming they're making us talk to others. I noticed a girl sitting by herself. Must be new. I walked over to her.

"Hey."

"Hi." She says.

"I'm Jersey Valeska. What's your name?"

"Barbara Kean." She says.

"Nice to meet you."

"You too. Why are you here?"

"Well, I lied to the cops about being involved with the murder of my mom."

"Wow. And they believed it?"

"Apparently..."

"So why would you lie to them?"

"I wanted to be with my brother. I couldn't go back to the circus without knowing if he's okay."

"Aw, well you're a sweet sister."

"Thanks."

"No problem." It got silent for a few minutes. I then started the conversation back up.

"So... why are you here?"

"Killed my parents."

"Oh... I'm sorry for your loss." She chuckled.

"You're a sweet kid, you know that right?"

"I guess..."

"Don't be sorry. I had to do what's best."

"Well, I should get going. See you later?" I said.

"Sure. See ya!"

"Bye." I said, then walked back to my cell. It wasn't night time yet, but I decided to take a nap, since there's nothing better to do. As I fell into a deeper sleep, all I could hear was a laugh. Jerome's laugh. And it kept growing stronger... and stronger... and stronger...
