“Alexis! School in five! Get your ass down here!” Mum yells up the stairs as I pull myself up.

“Maybe I should take the day off?” I yell back, collapsing back on the bed and pulling the duvet over my face.

“No! It’s your first day back! Get up!” She yells, more sternly this time. My hand fumbles for my glasses on the nightstand, when I eventually find them I manage to poke myself in the eye with them as I put them on my face. I groan but limb by limb I pull myself out of bed. I pick some clothes at random and chuck them on before pulling my boring dull black hair up into ponytail. I rush downstairs and have just enough time to grab some toast before Mum is pushing me out the front door.

“Your brother is waiting in the car. Go!”

“Mum, my bag!” I say and she pulls it off the back of the chair and chucks it at me.

“Go! You’re going to be late!” I casually walk towards Shawn’s car and get in.

“Seriously? Do you want to be late on your first day back?” He asks as he checks himself out in the mirror before he starts driving. Shawn is handsome and he knows it. Blues eyes, blonde hair, big muscles; he’s the definition of jock.

“It’s not my fault Teen Wolf is so addictive.” I say, leaning my head against the head rest, wishing I had coffee.

“Seriously? That’s why you were up until three this morning? You were watching Teen Wolf?” He says, his voice full of judgement.

“Hey! You try taking your eyes off Dylan O’Brien, it’s not an easy thing to do.” I say, picturing his perfect face in my mind. If only there were guys like him at my school.

“You need to get a life Lex.” He says as we turn into the school car park. He parks his car swiftly and as soon as I slam my door shut I hear the school bell ring.

“Shite!” Shawn exclaims, racing towards the school. Shawn isn’t stupid, actually, if he weren’t a footballer he would probably be labelled as a nerd and he’s proud of the fact he’s one of the cleverest footballers and he’s determined to keep it up.

Reluctantly I start running after him, that’s when it starts to rain and then to top it all off, I trip on my undone shoelaces. I land on my knees, grazing them. My glasses fall off my face and land on the ground, I look down at them and see they're cracked. I guess I'll be blind for today... Shawn just keeps on running leaving me behind, I glare at him and mutter profanity as I pull myself up and shove my glasses in my bag.

“Are you okay?” A deep masculine voice asks. I look up, it’s Drew, the quarterback. I groan internally. His stupidly handsome face stares down at me, surprisingly there is no sign of mock or laughter, just curiosity and sympathy. His green eyes bore into mine, my breathing increases and I can’t tell if I’m staring at him or if he’s staring at me. It’s probably the former rather than the latter. I blink a few times to clear my mind.

“I’m fine.” I finally say, remembering that he asked me if I was alright. It’s a lie though I am actually incredibly embarrassed and my knees hurt. He probably already thinks I’m a loser, this just made it ten times worse. Shockingly he offers me hand and so reluctantly I take it but as soon as I’m standing I release it. I mutter a small thanks and then start heading towards the school building. I’ve taken a couple of steps when he grabs my hand.

“Alexis? Right?” I nod, surprised that he knows my name. “Listen, we’re both already late, and soaked through. I think I have a spare t-shirt that might not be too big for you. So if you want to come with me, you can borrow it. It’d get you out of those wet clothes.” He says but I quickly yank my hand out of his and look at him suspiciously.
