"Dr. Green, I need you to come to Kota's house, now. It's an emergency," Victor stresses into the phone. I immediately jump into action, afraid that someone is hurt. Owen looks at me in concern, his lips slipping down into a nearly unnoticed frown, his gray eyes steeling over. He knows something is wrong. He always does; it's like a sixth sense.

"Victor, what do you mean it's an emergency? Did someone get hurt? Are our brothers okay?" I ask in a frenzy, quickly running to my desk to grab my brief case and the medical kit I have sat on top--the only thing I really even use that desk for: a place to set my stuff when there's no more room to store it.

"No, not really. I mean, no one's hurt! Well, except for Sang, but the boys are fine. And, well... can you please just get over here quickly? Kota needs you. I need you." Wow, it's not very often I hear those words from any of my brothers, unless someone is hurt. Usually it's just Owen they need, which I'm completely fine with--but that's not the important matter at hand.

"I'll be right over." I don't even question this Sang character before ending the call, throwing Owen a look over my shoulder to follow me as I rush out the door and to my purple car. It doesn't matter who's hurt, only that someone is hurt.

He follows behind closely, not showing nearly as much stress as I, and hops into the passenger seat of my car as I toss my stuff into the back seat, climb into the front, start the car, and back out of my driveway.

"Dr. Gre--"

"Oh, no, Owen. Don't start that shit with me. I get this is a stressful situation and you're going into your Mr. Blackbourne mode, but save that shit for our brothers. I won't hear it being addressed to me. Now, to answer your question, Victor called because someone is hurt."

I briefly glance to the side to see his reaction, only to be met with a slightly raised brow, as if to ask, "How'd you know what I was going to say?"

I throw him my own look. "I've known you for most of my life, Owen. I know you better than you know yourself."

He nods, understanding my silent answer. I chuckle, despite the stress I feel, and say aloud, "Oh, and your fly is down, by the way."

Letting his guard drop for only a minute, he quickly looks down to find the zipper on his fancy dress pants completely intact and zipped to the top. He sends me a glare, and I chuckle again, keeping my eyes on the road ahead.

"Who's hurt?" He quizzes. "Clearly it's not one of our brothers, or you wouldn't be pulling jokes."

I shrug. "I don't know, actually. Someone named Sang, I guess. But that doesn't matter right now. And besides, if I don't pull jokes, who will? Excluding Luke, of course... and maybe Gabe... and possibly Silas with his corny puns. I'm pretty sure he's the only one who thinks they're funny."

He blows a small breath of relief and his shoulders relax a bit. I'm the only one he'll let loose with and I take great pride in that. He's my best friend and my brother, and I love the guy. But really, Mr. Blackbourne can sometimes have a serious stick up his ass and will take the fun out of everything.

Soon pulling into the familiar Sunnyvale Court, I notice that the house across from Kota's has new residents; the lights are on in the house and I can see the flicker of a television screen in one of the windows. Shaking off the strange feeling I get from the sight of the oddly lonely-looking house, I swiftly pull into Kota's driveway and rush out to grab my things from the backseat. Again, Owen follows, but this time with a much thicker air of intensity around him as he puts on his famous mask of indifference.
