"W-what are you doing here?" I ask. Kai smiles gently, it was the smile that was making my heart ache in both good and bad kind of way. I began to scowl at the sight. He takes a step forward but I could only take a step back. My heart was shattering as I did so. He sighs,

"I didn't come for trouble. I just wanted to apologize for abruptly ending things and—." He carefully states but hesitates to finish. I scoff angrily.

The worst part about this was, he was my best friend and all I'm seeing was a stranger.

"Just say what you need to say and leave." I coldly demand. He frowns slightly but looks down at my hand that had my ring and points at it,

"I'm sorry to ask this, but, I need my grandmothers ring back." I stiffen and felt tears threatening to escape my eyes as the pain of knowing that this was truly the end increased.

My heart felt like it was truly shattering to me feet and he was kicking it to the side like it didn't matter. I gulp back a sob and nodded my head.

"I-is that all?" I whisper as I stared at the ring for moment and slowly slid it off my finger. I felt vulnerable. He sighs and nods his head,

"Yes." He says. With trembling fingers I swiftly handed it to him as I averted my eyes to the floor. He takes it and places it in his pocket and lets out a breath,

"I didn't mean to hu—" he was interrupted as a familiar figure marched right beside and placed her slender arm on my waist and pulled me flushed against her side causing me to gasp and look up at her.

Staring at her side profile and the intensity of her features, plus her warm, gentle grip around my waist caused me to forget everything for just a moment and focus on my racing heart.

"Who's this creature?" Lisa asks as she eyes Kai darkly. Kai stares at Lisa in bewilderment and quite offended for being interrupted and insulted.

"Excuse me? And who are you?" He spits out. Lisa chuckles dryly and seemed to be ready to murder until she turned down to look at me and for some reason, her face softened and her smile widened,

"Don't worry about it." She softly states before looking at him and sharpening her gaze,

"If you'll excuse us, we have some business to attend to." Not waiting for his reply, she smoothly took my hand in hers and walked away into the far book aisle. I turned around to see Kai staring at us confusedly with a small frown on his face before turning around and exiting the library.

Going around the corner and being away from Kai, I felt at ease until Lisa had swiftly pressed me against the book shelf and placed both of her hands on both sides of my head. I gulp nervously towards the proximity and as she silently stared at me intently,

"What?" I breath out.

"I sensed your heart breaking." She states. I frown slightly and averted my eyes to the ground,

"Yeah well, you're a siren it's normal." I said. She lets out a breath and I shivered lightly it as her minty breath hit my skin softly,

"But that's the thing, broken hearts happen everyday and I could always sense it. But for some reason, I could only feel yours." I widen my eyes at the revelation and quickly met her gaze that held curiosity and something that seemed to be unknown to me.

"Maybe it's the fact that I'm your Sirens Light?" I asked. She stared at me for a moment before nodding her head,

"I think you're right." She whispers as she continues to slowly scan my face. My breath hitches as she lifts up her hand off the shelf and traces my cheek lightly, causing goosebumps to prickle my skin,
