When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of my living room, I had only two things on my mind: Marcia and my new mustang.

I guess I was wishing I already had my new mustang. I mean my parents had already bought it and everything. But I wasn't going to get it until my seventeenth birthday, which was about three weeks away. So in the meantime, I had to drive Bob's car. That meant Bob got to show off his fancy blue mustang. I couldn't wait to get mine.

I heard the car horn go off, snapping me out of my thoughts. I ran outside to see Bob, Cherry, and Marcia all waiting on me. I hopped in the back right next to Marcia and threw my arm around her.

The other thing I was thinking about was Marcia. She was gorgeous. A medium-height girl with short brown hair and dark brown eyes. I was so happy to call her my girl. I couldn't wait to hang with her today. Marcia was different from most Socs. She wasn't like the cocky ones, who thought they were better than everyone and everything. She also wasn't like Cherry, her best friend. Marcia was an easygoing person. She didn't care too much about everything. She got along with pretty much everybody.

Cherry Valance had green eyes. Her real name was Sherri, but she earned her nickname from her long red hair. She wasn't afraid to stand up for someone. She was okay with greasers. She didn't like a lot of them, especially Dallas Winston, but she didn't think they deserved all the hate they got. She saw both sides. It didn't necessarily make Bob happy either.

Bob was my best friend and Cherry's boyfriend, and pretty much everyone out of my guy friend's favorite. He held the group together. He was hot-tempered, but he also could be nice. We've been buddies since forever it seemed. I knew him before I knew any of my other friends. He really hated greasers with all his guts. He was always going around jumping people, he even almost killed this one kid about half a year ago. He only acted crazy and ballistic like that when he was drunk though. I mean, it was his fault for drinking. He just always let the alcohol get the best of him. When he was sober, he could be a really great guy. That is if you actually got to know him though. He may have been against greasers and would jump them no matter what state he was in, but he was also a real guy. He had a heart. Cherry was in love with him and they'd been together for a long time now. I didn't know what I'd do without him. He was my best buddy. I don't think anyone knew what to do without him.

"Hey Randy," Marcia gushed.

"Hi babe," I started playing with her hair. "Where are we headed?"

Cherry turned around from shotgun to look back at us. "Well Marcia and I have work in at three, so we were just going to grab lunch at Sweet Home Tulsa."

"Alright," I agreed.

"Okay, let's get goin," Bob said, as he hit the gas pedal and we drove off. "So Randy, what should we do tonight? I'm not busy."

"I don't know man, we could grab some beers and just hang with the guys."

"You better not do anything stupid," Cherry huffed. Bob rolled his eyes.

"Honey, relax, we're just gonna have a couple drinks and hang around."

"Well last time you got drunk, it did not go well."

I remembered that, and it chilled me to the bone. It seemed like Marcia had forgotten about it, though she did seem upset any time we even mentioned beer. Cherry was clearly no where near being over it though. We had acted crazy that night, and I knew they would never let us forget it. We hadn't even really done anything to hurt anyone, we had just made a complete fool of ourselves.

"It'll be alright," I reassured them. "We probably won't end up drinking anyway." Bob knew I was lying, and he saw me wink at him through the mirror. He winked back.
