Chapter 21

When Lark and John reached the pack grounds it was already dark. Just like before, patrolling wolves flanked their sides giving them a wide berth before bowing their heads and then swiftly returning to their post when they acknowledged their presence.

They stopped short of the village's entrance and headed towards the shacks that housed clothes and provide privacy if one wants to transform. Taking the clothes that they often stash there, they changed first before entering the pack grounds.

Since it was already dark, the street lights were already on giving a soft glow on the roads. There were only a few werewolves littering about due to the curfew set and all of them bowed their heads when they passed by.

Giving a slight nod, Lark marched quickly towards the pack house for a late night meeting with his team before retiring for the night. Within moments the towering building greeted them.

They didn't waste a single second in entering and heading towards the meeting room where three of his top men and women gathered. They all stood up to bow and show their submission. Lark motioned his hand for them to sit down and they did.

"Good to see you Alpha, Beta. I hope your trip was well." Clamentine started, his bluish-green eyes an oddity that matched well with his silver hair. Lark smiled at his greeting and answered that it went well. The pale man gave a nod at that, "I hope grandmother is keeping your mates good as well." He added and Lark laughed at his words.

"Maris would kill if anyone touches a hair of our mates." He answered with a glee in his eyes. The others shared their sentiments knowing how fierce the older woman can get.

Sarah propped up in her seat with her eyes glistening in excitement. "You look better too, Alpha and Beta. Does this mean you have some good news about the future Luna and female beta?" She asked, ever since they heard about the news of their leaders finding their mate, the feeling of wanting to see them grew every day.

A smile unconsciously broke off Lark's face at the mention of his mate. Knowing how well they've been getting through these past days and he have the inkling that he doesn't have to wait long before he could finally have her as a mate completely.

"Yes, there are great news about our mates. For one they finally know what we are and have decided to stay with us despite that." He told them, and they all beamed at that. They were all nervous when they told him that their mates were humans.

It wasn't anything bad that they are humans, although it was definitely rare, the whole pack would welcome the future of their pack. But it was a different tone when a human had to welcome a werewolf. It was great news that despite the truth they stuck to their mates and that gathered them loyalty from the people present at the meeting.

"That's great news Alpha!" Sarah exclaimed, she had to hold herself from jumping up and down. For them shewolves, the Luna stands as their guide and the mother of all wolves in the pack and since it's been so long since the last Luna died, having a new one is something to celebrate for.

Their pack's future and balance will now be fully restored once she receive her title.

Her peers tried to calm her down while Lark sweat dropped at her reaction. He did think that they would be excited but if one of her fiercest female was jumping up and down about his mate, he's worried at the reaction of his populace.

He hope that they wouldn't fright Licht and poor Clara. The girl's would have a heart attack if they will be bombarded with such high energies.

Lark cleared her thought and that caught their attention. "I'm glad that you're happy and enthusiastic but I hope that once the girls come back here in the village that they won't be trampled by our people." He said to them adding to his head "And scare them away."
