XAVIER
It was a rainy Friday morning. No school today. Max woke up and cleared his head. He walked over into the den where moms home office was. Being careful not to knock over any of her tattoo supplies she had everything all set up she must be expecting clients today. He proceeds to go behind the desk. He sat down. Opened her laptop and began typing. He really didn't want to ask the boys about Xavier. He was impatient and very curious something was wrong, and he was determined to figure it out on his own. Besides if in fact something did happen, and the teachers knew about it. I'm sure it made the news. Must have been big right he thought. There is the internet. And there isn't much you can't find on google. He began typing Xavier's name. But he really didn't have much to go on other than a name and a town. After thinking about the things that were said and the way the boys were acting Max suggested that maybe they were tied to his house. So, he typed up his address. He didn't find out much other than there had been numerous people that bought the house and within less than six months it was put back up on the market. He tried getting the names of the pervious owners together information but had no luck. It was like everyone had vanished. He decided that maybe Xavier had a social media account. Now a days who doesn't have one. So, he logged onto Facebook and typed up Jasper Garcia to see if he had Xavier on his friends list. After all Max only had a first name. poof there it all was right in front of him. A picture behind a name. his hands became tingly his heart was in his throat. His eyes began to twitch. And the hairs stood up on the back of his neck. He took a long pause. Now he seen what he looked like maybe he could let it go and move on. No need to search deeper. Sometimes things are better left seen then heard. You might find something you didn't want to know. Max knew there was no turning back once he clicked the mouse. He took a deep breath and as he was about to double click his mom walked in.
"Max what are you doing in here?' asked mom
"nothing much just playing on Facebook" said Max.
"okay well I have a client coming I have to get set up you can do what you need to later okay" answered mom
Max deleted his search history and got up from behind the deck. He walked out and decided to go explore the outside of the house. He got down the stairs of the porch and walked toward the backyard. It was huge. Can have family get togethers during the summer back here. He was thinking maybe he could talk dad into getting a pool. He noticed a trail into what looked to be like a little wooded area. Wow we got our own little woods. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about that just yet. It was daylight, so he went to go explore he got about fifteen feet in and realized it wasn't woods. It was a cemetery. And right before him appeared three men hanging from frayed ropes they stared at him with cold, dead eyes. The trio swung silently and then faded into dust that fell to the ground. He started to choke. When heard a babys cry, lost and abandoned, there was a scream, the crack of breaking glass, and then silence. He looked around and turned back only to see a man dressed in groundskeepers clothing with an empty open grave he raised his shovel and started charging. Inches from Max's face and disappeared only leaving muddy foot prints. He shook and then gunned for it fell on a log and bumped his head. He was full of mud. Got up and ran for the house. Got inside into the bathroom noticed he had ripped his favorite pair of jeans. He washed his arms and cleaned his pants. He glanced into the mirror to see if he was bleeding. There wasn't any blood coming from him, but he did see his reflection full of blood moving away from him inside of the mirror. he hit the bathroom door and ran out to the Livingroom almost knocking Emilio right over. Emilio caught himself and the lamp before it fell. Slow down Max what in the hell are you running from. Darn don't let dad catch you running in here unless you want to have all of us never hearing the end of it yelled Emilio
"oh, my lord Emilio we need to talk like now" shouted Max.
"yeah okay its fine what is going on with you?" asked Emilio.
Brisa came down from upstairs shouting about what the hooting and hollering was about and to be quite because mom had a client.
"It's nothing Brisa" said Emilio.
"Max must be going through acting out stage" Answered Emilio
"I don't know it looks like a little more than acting out what the hell happened to your damn pants max? moms going to flip that you ripped your eighty-dollar jeans" she shouted.
Suddenly the door to mom's office opened and her client came out with a bandage wrapped around his upper arm. There mom sure knew how to manipulate ink in the skin. She's one of the best when it comes to sleeves. They were all hoping that she didn't hear all the commotion. Soon as the front door of the house closed mom came back into the Livingroom and asked what they wanted for supper. And asked why they didn't go outside and rake up the yard. Or introduce themselves to the other kids. While Noelia, Nicolas and Arianna were running down the stairs to head outside to play kickball. Mom asked where they were off to in such a hurry.
"Oh, there's a bunch of kids outside playing in the road. We were going to introduce ourselves and see if they wanted to play with us" Said Arianna.
"Oh, great sounds like fun Emilio and Max you guys go too" Replied mom.
"Yeah okay after I talk to Brisa" said Emilio.
Max continued to catch up with his brother and sisters outside. While Brisa and Emilio sat on the couch talking about what they were going to do about the attic. If they were going to tell mom and dad. Or keep it a secret. They both agreed if anything else happens they were going to bring it up to dad. They didn't want to burden their mom.
