Karl was in a very wonderful mood that morning, most of the Guild was gone and the biggest team had left to do whatever. He was able to just relax in the Guildmaster office. Honestly, Karl was having the time of his life, pretending he knew how to read, messing with the arrangement of the things on the desk, and scratching messages into the desk.
Around the afternoon Karl went out to the Cafe to get something to eat. There weren't many people there which meant he could grab a drink of Oran berry juice quickly.
The cafe was a large building with windows lining the walls, there were chairs and couches for people to relax in as well as a bar. They didn't serve many pick-me-up drinks as Karl liked to call them but their regular drinks always hit the spot.
He finished his Oran berry juice and paid for it, as he was stepping outside he felt the ground shake and heard Pokémon screaming. A gigantic black portal opened in the sky near Bridge Tower and Shadows leaked from it.
Karl readied himself, he didn't know much about the Shadows but he had a good idea that they would try and attack his guild. Karl had really hoped Zen would've been back in time for this. She'd warned him that Shadows would start appearing but what happened next was on another level.
His immortal enemy, Shadow Rayquaza slithered out of the portal and began to move toward Central Town with a large cluster of Shadows moving with him.
That monster... he's coming for me. He's going to destroy this town again and it'll be all my fault!
The Pokémon of the town began to gather around him, he looked down at Aipom from the box buster shop.
"Alert everybody in the guild that we're being invaded! We don't have a second to lose!" Karl shouted and the monkey scampered back to the island with the guild.
The Dragon had covered half of the distance in a matter of a few minutes. Melanie and Kut came outside with Aipom and Karl sized up his team.
Jellicent, the Roserade Twins, Maractus, Aipom, Kut, Melanie, two Illumise and two Volbeat, and Porygon 2. The rest of the people who lived in the town were hiding in their homes.
"Alright team, it's up to us to defend Central Town. The Shadows will try to control us, and that Rayquaza is going to try and consume our life energy for his own gain. This happened once, but we can't let it happen again. Let's give it everything we've got, it's time for Central Town's final stand!" Karl shouted the Shadows were descending upon them now. It was now or never.
They began attacking the creatures before they could even enter the town, every time a gem shattered the misty vapor would dissipate. The members of Central Town put up a good fight but it wasn't long until they'd be overwhelmed.
Karl focused on the scary Demon Snake, discharging warning shocks to make sure the creature knew who was there.
Shadow Rayquaza looked down and smirked widely. "Good, I can get revenge on one of my killers after all. Shame the others had someone else who already claimed their deaths." The creature spoke with a deep, booming voice that gave Karl chills.
Someone had claimed their deaths? What was that Demon Snake talking about? He couldn't mean that Zax and the others were dead? That was impossible.
Karl shook his head, for now, he had his own battle to fight. "Whatever you say, pal! Let's end this right here!" Karl knocked his claws against each other and Dark Rayquaza dove down at him, fire frothing from its mouth.
Karl coated himself in a barrier of water and darted at the beast, sliding past its face and ramming into its body repeatedly. He skidded to a stop at the border of the town with the Dragon heading back into the air to regroup.
