"Agent Vermont. Your mission today is to infiltrate a lesser used insurrectionist compound. We believe there may be information there important to the project. A pelican will drop you off a few miles from the objective, from there you must enter the building and extract the information undetected. Dismissed." The director told me.
"Sir, yes, sir!" I said, walking out.
My memory shifted to much later...
'Damn annoying guards.' I thought to myself as I slipped around another group of patrolling guards. I was surprised by the amount guarding the facility. The patrols were on time and the place was well guarded.
'1...2...3...' I counted the time between the next two patrols. Nearly on time. I had fifteen seconds to get into the very visible room and extract the information needed. Those windows would make it impossible. Then I noticed the shutters.
'Sorry, command, but I'm gonna have to trigger some alarms.' I thought a I threw a deactivating device onto the door before making my way and quickly as possible to their power room. A timed small explosive near this room should draw the guards, they will think I am trying to take out their power.
I quickly attached the explosive to the wall and estimated a time range. I had three minutes to get back to the door, I thought to myself as I activated the explosive. I raced as quickly as I could back to the door, yet being careful not to be seen or it will blow my cover.
I landed on top of the building next to the one I needed to enter and laid myself flat over the top so as not to be seen, pistol at the ready.
'5....4....3....2....1....' My set clock said.
Boom!
I looked behind me to see the smoke and fire in the distance.
"All units! Report!" I heard over the hacked line.
"Sir! Attack on the power units, sir!" Another called out.
"Everyone! On alert! Anyone not needed, get to the power room! We can't have the power go out!" The leader called out over the line.
I peeked over the ledge and saw a ton of guards leave, two moving to stand by the doors as the shutters were raised. Good.
I checked to make sure the guards were far away before triggering the deactivating device. The door unlocked and opened.
"Huh?" One of them questioned, "Stay here, I'll check it out." He said before entering the building. I jumped off, raced up behind the remaining guard and quickly and silently killed him.
I winced in this memory. This was before my resolution to not kill people... I did a lot of bad things for Project Freelancer and I am determined not to do so again.
I peeked in to see the other guard scanning the room, gun out at the ready. I couldn't use my gun, too much noise. I kicked off the wall of the inside of the door to spin myself quickly.
"Wha-" The guard began to say before I silenced him with my knife.
I dragged the other body in, making sure blood did not get on the wall of ground outside before deactivating the device, making the door shut and lock again.
'One minute... Got one minute....' I thought, plugging in a pin drive and quickly hacking my way past their security system. It was quite complex but soon I was past it with a little work. I finally found the files Project Freelancer wanted and began to copy them to the pin drive, checking the info as it passed-
