nari pov

it was just minutes before the game would be starting. i was going nuts. i didn't know what was about to happen to me and what i would be walking into.

who are the other players?

what are my choices?

how many people will i have to kill?

does it make me a monster to want to kill people?

technically, it's to save me, and the other players. but i would be killing the people in the game.

it's more monstrous to kill a mass of people than saving a just a few.

"ten more minutes til start." a recorded announcer said over a loud speaker, echoing throughout the warehouse i was transported to to play the game.

i sat on the ground, hugging my knees, crying quietly.

then, hendery walked out of the changing room and sat down next to me.

"nari... nari, are you okay?" he put his arm around me, pulling me into him.

"no," i sniffled and wiped snot on my finger.

"i just, i can't kill someone. it's not me and i could never do it. i don't think i can do this. is there a way to go back?"

"i'm sorry, but once you're in, you're in. plus, you are forced to anyways."

"but like, i really can't! please, can you just do most of it for me?!"

"okay, fine, but at least about ten people. because he's watching."

"okay, okay."

"five more minutes til start."

"holyfuckshitdamn ohmygodohmygod," i rocked myself back and forth, hyperventilating.

"this may sound weird, but, can you like restrain me, so i can try to calm down a little?" i softly said looking up at his undisturbed face.

"sure," he hugged me, as we sat there waiting for the last minutes to count down, in a little ball on the cement floor.

a teardrop fell on his hand and i hope he didn't notice. soon that didn't matter because eventually his whole shirt was drenched.

"thirty seconds til start."

"sorry about your shirt.." i sat up.

"it's alright," he stood up, holding a hand out.

i took it without realizing...

he wiped his hand on his shirt.

ew i just gave him my snot.

"sorry.." i made the 'yikes' face and sure enough my face was burning up in embarrassment.

he smiled and hugged me again.

"thank you."

"the game will start in five, four, three..." the announcer spoke.

i swallowed hard, barely breathing.
